I want to replace my wheels and tires (stock) on my Unlimited. It's a 6 speed manual transmission with 3.21 gear ratio.

What are the largest tires that I can put on without needing a lift kit or impacting performance (if that makes sense)? What size wheels should I get? I've been researching but it all looks very foreign to me.

Just bought an 09 Wrangler unlimited. Went in to the dealer to order winter tires and was told "no one makes any". Of course now that I've paid for the car the service is a bit different (Gotta love car salesmen!) Anyhow, went to the local firestone store and was told the same thing.

I've got 17" Wrangler SA all seasons now but really wanted to be able to go for trips through the mountains and the cops require winter tires to let you through the roadblocks into the mountains.

Q: I must be able to buy a different sized wheel and tire. Any help would be super.

Question is...will those fit the stock rims? I know the 17R of course matches up...but I have no idea how width works with the stock rims.

Also...Question about the spare...will it fit on the back of the Jeep? Or will i need to purchase a spacer for it so it can hang? (Link what I need should I need it)

Lastly, Third brake light...will that be in the way for a 33" tire? (Link what I need to adjust the light should I need it)

Will take pics and give ride/handling impressions as soon as I can. Should get some decent "unimproved" road time this weekend like we did last weekend. Sets us up for good comparison re: traction, stability, etc.

I had done a search of this forum and didn't see anything on this M/T version but did see some good things about the A/T version. Figured I'd let you all know. Here is a link to the tire.

However, I have not seen any real large threads on this comparison from the people who have owned both tires, Duratracks and KM2's

I understand the two tires are quite different, one is full out Mud tire, the other is a mix between the AT and MT. Still, it seems from the threads I have been reading, most Jeepers tend to either go with one or the other. KM2 is an official WF tire for a reason... but looks like Duratrack is slowly creeping up behind. :p

I absolutely LOVE the look of a KM2 tire on a Jeep and have slight doubts about the look of a Duratrack in comparison.

So for someone like myself who needs a quieter ride on the highway as the 98 Wrangler Sport is my weekend vehicle and who absolutely hates the Maxxis BigHorns I've got on the Jeep now because of their unbearable highway noise, which of the two would you recommend and how much quieter is a 33" Duratrack compared to 33" KM2? Is the KM2 really noisy on the highway in comparison?
