(its huge :D) i've had cb's in most of my jeeps, (cobras and uniden currently) but i would buy my stuff at a local cb specialty shop, which is no longer there. i knew all their stuff was good.

so now, i was looking at radio shack for antennas, and they had a few, but give me some info on what antenna to buy for the mj. should i buy a firestick? i want 4' i think for the truck. i don't want to use a magnet. i think dual antennas look cool, but are they just bs?

thanks nerds :D

The one we are looking at has an alert on the keychain and basically kills the ignition and send an alert to the driver that there might be someone trying to get into your car. It has a soft top so I asked the shop about a perimeter alarm and they said they dont install them because they go off to easy. Any suggestions on alarms or security for the jeep.:banghead:

So i am doing a sub install for a friend on his 2009 Wrangler Sahara. It has the Infinity subwoofer in the trunk. I have not been able to find any information about this online and dont know where some of the wires are.
so has anyone done this? i know its probably stupid to do in a Jeep but he really wants it (and dont respond with stuff about how he shouldnt do it)
i have done an install on my BMW and it was very simple and there was a lot of information, but i cant find anything on the Jeeps.

So the things i need to know:

-is there a signal wire in the trunk
-how do i run the power wire (where do wires come thru the firewall)
-how many wires does the rear sub have (just 2?)

thanks

I am looking for a little help to avoid a typical situation I get myself into too often trying to "help" my son. In this case, I am trying to save him $200+ in cost and maybe teach him that he can do it himself.

He just purchased a used 2007 wrangler with the what I believe is a stock radio (it has Sirius radio built in with MP3 port).

The previous owner mounted a baha amp to drive a mounted Infinity subwoofer in the rear. My problem is I am an engineer and tinker, but haven't messed with car electronics in a long time.

I have all the cables I need, except a LOC (Line Out Converter). I am pretty sure to finish the install the power needs to be run from the battery to the Amp, and I need to tap a speaker line with the LOC and run that into the Amp, and finally run a line from some switched circuit to turn on the AMP when the car is started.

Does it matter where the speaker wire is spliced (i.e. there are places where it is probably a lot easier to reach than behind the dash)? If I can avoid having to open up the dash that would be ideal. If anyone has anything to add to help me avoid making a mistake, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Lance

Saw the write up on installing a new headunit and had a couple questions since it made no mention of the factory sub in the console...

Where does the amp get it's signal? Will I have to splice into the wiring for that somewhere or is it spliced into the factory wiring (thus requiring me not to touch it unless I wanted to REMOVE it)?

Also, which wire will I need to hook up to power the amp up when I turn it on? Remote turn on wire or power antenna wire? I'm thinking I have both on the harness (haven't looked yet)?

Oh yeah, and the Walmart I went to for the wire adapters didn't have any antenna adapters...will I need one to switch the antenna over from my factory headunit to my Pioneer headunit? I'd figure they'd all be standard...but it was mentioned in the other thread that I would need one?
