Hey guys just browsing around on google and found the powertrax lock-right-locker. It looks like it just replaces some of the gears instead of everything. It says it gives power to the wheel with the most traction and when in a turn it still lets the outside wheel spin faster. So it sounds great and for 300 bucs seems like a good deal. Has anyone had experiance with these? I Do some pretty harsh offroading but nothing crazy, just tired of wheels in the air and spinning!!!
Thanks fellas

Do you need 4H at higher speeds on the road in the winter?
If not this locker is a good thing in the front axle. Take a look at the aussie locker, it´s cheaper and does the same. In the rear I would´t install an auto locker on a daily driver.

A stock D44 has 30 spline.
Especially in sand I would prefer a selectalbe locker that I can activate before I drive through deep sand. That´s a bit better than an auto locker. Perhaps a MOD can move this thread to the CJ forum.

Here you can find Aussie lockers for a Jeep:
Aussie Lockers: Jeep J Pick-Up J-10 Pick-Up J-20 Pick-Up Pick- Up Grand Cherokee WJ Jeepster Commando Pick- Up CJ-7 Cherokee XJ Wrangler TJ & YJ CJ-5 Grand Cherokee ZJ CJ-6 Liberty CJ-8 Scrambler Comanche Grand Wagoneer Wagoneer SJ LibertyKJ Wrangler I like my selectable ARB lockers. With only the rear ARB locker my TJ is way better than a friends TJ with a front Aussie and a rear Trac Loc.

I run ARB's F/R on the TJ. They work well, transparent on road and locked when you want off road. I have spent ALLOT of time in sand and they work. I run Detroit's F/R on both trucks and I love them, I know, I know, many many people will disagree. YES, I do spend allot of time in snow and ice, I am just used to them I guess. Tires on the TJ, 13.50x35x15, tires on both trucks are 38's, all are siped. Service truck will get 42's next time around, siped also.

I had a lockrite it the rear of my Cherokee and it broke without much effort. I now have ARB's in it and they haven't failed in the most extreme situations. A very nice option, imho, are the Detroit Truetracs. They are a gear driven, limited slip that are standard on the Military H1 Hummers. Unlike traditional limited slip difs, they don't have clutch plates that wear out, nor do they require additives in the gear oil. I've installed these front and rear on two friends' YJ's and they could go everywhere my rig with ARB's could go. I am now installing them in my own YJ. They cost 1/2 as much as an ARB, are completely unnoticeable on the street (even in the ice and snow, as both of the YJ's I put them in live in Sonora, where it snows a lot), and they are durable.
Good luck! |

LSD lockers like the deroit truetrac are good on rough roads. if you do some hard offroadeing only one rear selectable locker is better.
