i think the locking hubs on my cj7 are on their way out, but i would like to upgrade them before they break. what is the best hub for a front dana 44?

i'm no hub expert yet with this older stuff, but mine i'm building has them so i've been educating myself. i kinda subscribe to the idea of using cheaper hubs so they are what break instead of shafts. hubs are easy to replace, shafts are a little more work, hubs can be snagged from the junk yard. but they aren't cheap when you buy them new though. warn premium seem to be the best hub though. i have a set i won't be using anymore since i'm changing the whole outer set up on mine.

I have run Warn on the CJ and TJ. Though I seem to recall I had superwinch hubs as backups for the CJ, as at the time they had some part that was metal vs plastic...

ya, that is a pretty good point. i'd much rather have to replace the hub than an axle. i think i would like something a little stronger than the stock ones though. i am not overly impressed with them.

Been a while but they used to make a what I believe was called a Hub fuse that was designed to give before the axles or u-joints. searched but couldn't find one though.
