Exclamation Semi Stalling in 98 Wrangler

Hey guys. I am new here but I have a very odd problem. I currently have a 98 jeep wrangler with 150,000+ Miles on it. When I hit a bump the vehicle stops accelerating and drops about 10mph (during this time i cannot accelerate at all) then I get a funny smell and i can continue accelerating again. After that my gas gauge goes down past empty until I turn the car off or I hit another bump sometimes it goes back up. I took the air filter off replaced that, and sprayed a whole can of carb/choke cleaner into the air manifold while revving it. This made it idle a bit better but still semi stalls on me. Please help with any ideas b/c I'm tight on money and don't want to involve a mechanic if I don't have to.
