I searched the threads an could not find anything that covers this topic if it is out there please link to it. I am trying to use the YJ dash in the YJ body tub that I recently put on a CJ7. The dash, wires, and fuse block are from a 87 YJ 4.2L and the plug that goes to the harness/fuse block on the engine side of the firewall are from the 83 CJ7 4.2L. The mounting and attachments all seem to be the same but I am not sure if the wires all connect to the same places. I would like to keep as many functions working as possible (lights, turn signals, engine) Does anyone have a diagram of the connector for each year and model. If anyone knows if the harness can be plugged in without modifications and without issue that would save me a lot of time and thinking. I was going through the wire diagrams and started making a chart but it could take forever to go that way so if anyone can help with the shortcut it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok I found the answer to my own question and it is NO. The YJ harness is not a direct plug in to the CJ harness. The pins on the YJ are like this - and the CJ are like this | so they do not fit well or at all. Plan B is to take the CJ Dash harness and fit it into the YJ dash. So has anyone done this yet? I removed both harnesses and carefully labeled everything so getting the fit right should not be too bad and should only take a splice or two. If anyone has tried this and been successful or failed please let me know and Thanks in advance for your help.

I am glad you found the answer to your own question bro. Indeed you are right..The YJ harness is not a direct plug in to the CJ harness.
