Can bedliner be used on the stock base steel wheels? The black wheels look great and I am very interested in doing this.

My stock steel wheels have been that way for about 4 months, they are holding up fine in the mud and rocks. I left my center cap silver. They are a little dusty, had to go fill my feeder yesterday and check my game cam. On a sad note, this is the 1st time I have had the top up in 2 months or more. Supposed to storm all day here.

Not if you put the weights back on and spray the paint evenly. These are not performance wheels that go 150+.

I painted my stock wheels today. They look good; however, I should have done an extra coat. One is not enough. I also did not take them off the Jeep. I used painter's tape on the lug nuts and around the edge of the rim. Then I made a round template out of cardboard to protect the tire. Finally, I used a large piece of cardboard inserted into the wheel well to protect the rest of the Jeep from overspray. It worked. Although it needs a another coat. Bedliner rules!!!!

You really can't see the inside of the rims past the caliper/rotor.

If you dont take the wheels off its going to be a pain but...

Tape off the lugs
Find a big piece of cardboard and cut out the size of your rim so you can put it against it to prevent overspray.
Sand rim with 1-200 Grit paper
Acetone the rim real good
Spray evenly in every nook and cranny exposed.
Let dry
Give it a second touch up coat.
Let dry.

Took me about 3 hours (with help) to do all 5 rims, off the jeep

Start to finish

Hello, I did mine without taking the wheels off the Jeep (except the spare).

1. Remove the spare
2. I used painter's tape on the lug nuts and around the edge of the rim.
3. I made a cardboard cut out of the tire to prevent overspray on the tire.
4. I sanded all the wheels with a medium grit sand sponge (home depot).
5. Placed a large piece of cardboard into the wheel well in order to prevent overspray on the Jeep. The cardboard was about 2.5 feet wide and about 3 feet long.
6. Get under the cardboard and spray your wheels slowly and evenly. I recommend wearing a painter's mask.
7. Repeat twice for each wheel.
8. Once dry, you will hear and feel noise and vibration when braking until the paint on the brakes wears off. Within 20 minutes of driving it was gone.
9. Carefully remove the painter's tape and enjoy.

Does anyone have/seen pictures of steel blue metallic jku's with bed liner'd wheels? I have that color and really interested in trying it, but I want to see what they would look like first.

So far, I got the spare done yesterday and let the final coat dry until this morning. Then put the weight and center-cap back on and bolted it onto the Jeep...

Then I went back and detailed the 'Jeep' inlaid letters and left the center-cap alone. It might be hard to see in the pics, but I think it looks good...
I'll get to the others this week...
