Anyone down to go to the cliffs?

I've never gone to the cliffs, or any park for that matter but I really wanna go. I was thinking of going March 26th or 27th. Interested? Maybe we can get a good group of people to go, who knows

I'll be at this one

BTW Stinky - Thanks for the input about my BB. Unfortunately, it's going to have to wait until next week I think. I got going with everything last night and I couldn't get the Shock Bolts off (I sprayed everything with PB Blaster for a couple days before starting). So I'm postponing the BB until after this weekend's wheeling. I so wish I had impact tools

Ahhh cool! I'll get to meet you tomorrow and we can talk in person about your BB. It's not that hard at all BUT air tools are nice but not a necessity. As of right now according to the DDO site, there are 14 CONFIRMED people going and 2 groups setup. You'll be number 15. I'm sure others will show as well. Should be LOTS of fun!

Yep - I just posted on there as well - under the official head count thread - I didn't see that one until this AM. There are 5 or so threads about wheeling this weekend.

My biggest problem with the BB - was trying to do it after work late in the evening. I think doing it on a weekend would be more condusive to getting results - just not this Saturday Maybe I'll look at it Sunday depending upon how much mud we get into tomorrow.

Do you have good tires? It WILL be muddy especially since we are going through this freeze thaw cycle.

Well - I have stock GY GSA - 30x9.50x15 - The "Bank" says I can't get tires until this summer unless I really need them. I'm kinda looking for a good reason to get new GY Duratracs - The tread is good on my tires - I know it will be messy- so we will just have to see how it all turns out - I'm going to take ths Chrome Tube steps off tonight - I have already swapped out the front and rear chrome bumpers with stock - if it had 31x10.50 Duratracs I wouldn't be a mall crawler anymore - Going to clean up the front/rear chrome tubes and sell them - The "Bank" wants me to clean up the chrome steps, and sand and paint them with Truck Bed Liner this summer so they are black and so she will still have a step to get in.

Thanks GOD you are getting rid of the chrome!
Do you have a tow strap and a CB?
Good call on the steps!!
Is the "Bank" attending tomorrow also?? Unfortunately the "Control Tower" won't be coming with me on this one but my oldest daughter might.

I bought this one with Chrome - I hate it - so it is slowly coming off.
Front/Rear Bumpers - Check
Tube Steps - Working on it - Going to paint with Truck Bed Liner
Grill overlay - Thinking of painting it with Truck Bed Liner as well

I do have a handheld CB which will work on the trail, I need to get an antenna for my jeep (probably from a truck stop) but won't mount my CB unless I my Rear Tail Light Bracket comes in today (supposed to but we shall see).

The "Bank" will not be in attendance and is really bummed about it. If she were to attend, I think I would get upgrades faster (especially tires - just got to wait until June/July for my B-Day Present). She has to work this weekend.

She said that she is definately wanting to do Silver Lake Sand Dunes, so she has requested that weekend off so we can go (hopefully with new tires).

^^ The CB to be mounted is a Cobra 75WXST - I'm going to mount the box behind the front Console (behind the gear shifter - technically in front of gear shifter). That way it is out of the way and doesn't take up any valuable space.

I had one of those and that is exactly where I put mine. Under the console. "The Control Tower" is also bummed she can't attend. She LOVES wheeling and is a huge part of everything I do on our Jeep's including the lifts, rewiring, etc etc etc.

We are also hoping to make a Dunes trip this year but...... Well we shall see.

Sorry crikeyjeepturtles: we totally your thread.

As for the dunes: DDO is going July 29-31st this year. You should try to pencil that in. I have the "Bank" keep the calendar, I'm horrible with knowing what I'm supposed to do when (because I don't write it down - but that is what she is for - when she's not giving loan approvals for jeep upgrades, she is doing the event planning of everything else).

Pretty much just show up. You can sign up on the web site for a web only membership BUT to become an official memeber you have to fill out an application, pay your dues etc. Really cool bunch of guys. We had a GREAT time with them at the Cliff's.

I believe they do a monthly meet and greet also. Check the website for schedule and info. Down & Dirty Offroad - Promoting Teamwork in 2011

Meet and Greets are always the 2nd Saturday of the month, at Paps Bar and Grill, in Mount Prospect.

This past weekend was a great time - got my dues worth of using everyone's tow hooks/straps to get my stock LJ out of the mud. I thought it was great how everyone was quick to help out and no one complained (at least not outloud) about having to go back to save another newbie.

DDO is an active group, that meets once a month and also offroads at least once a month all year long (yes even in the winter).

Crikey - If you are wanting to wheel this weekend (I know it's short notice), but StinkyMud and a few others are going down to the Cliffs on Saturday. I think it is clean-up day at the Cliffs, and if you help with the clean up for a couple hours in the AM you can wheel the rest of the day for the halfday price (saw something about that on their Facebook Page). Anyways, check in on this Thread on WF or on DDO's Forum. I'm thinking so far they have a group of 3 or 4.
