I am starting this thread to see if anyone in the greater Chicagoland area and beyond, doesn't matter to me...would like to do a meet and great (beer..)
I am down for anything...maybe start with if anyone is actually interested and work from there (where, when, etc)
No pressure, just meet some fellow jeep enthusiasts and make new friends.
Free? Ha! Any activity needs to be squeezed in between kids/homework/sports/etc. In the other thread, I think this weekend was thrown out there, kinda made me chuckle. Wait...does that mean I'm too old for a social outing? Saturday evenings are usually ok, coming from Yorkville so Naperville/Aurora area is good. Checking calender now.
I am in the same boat as you so had picked a target time to see who all can squeeze it. Saturday nights are family and other friends nights and we are booked for a while. May be s Sunday morning breakfast is an option?!
My suggestion is we throw out a couple dates a few weeks out so people can try and plan around it. Other clubs I've seen do morning donuts/breakfast on the weekend or a random day after work.
A location I would suggest is around Woodfield as it's pretty accessible by all the major highways in all directions.
Wood field is pretty far from Plainfield / Naperville where this thread originated. I think Bolingbroook would give the most assecible for every one. It's right at the 355/55 interchange and they have an out door mall with plenty of resturaunts right off the highway.
I am interested, but I normally work Saturdays. Bachelor Party for my buddy Saturday means I will be spending Sunday recovering, and I have poker the Sunday after.
So considering where all those interested are coming from Naperville may be just about equal distance for most....so, egg harbor cafe downtown Naperville or Panera Bread on Rt 59 & 95th street....make sense? if not, suggest others!!
As stated I could care less. I however agree with the someplace easy to find. I know where that panera is but I'm not sure how easy it is to find and its not directly off a major highway...
As lame as this sounds what about a Denny's? Or something else like that...I know there's one off I55 in Bolingbrook...if you're coming from downtown you can hop in I55, north/south you've got I355...either way it's easily accessible and seen from the highway.
Thoughts?
I haven't eaten there in forever and a grand slam sound ms delicious
I think is younger folks could do that. And I'm down for either or...but I know some people have family stuff in Saturday nights and I can respect that.
I won't be able to make many, if any Saturday night meets due to my job. Sundays are easier for me, but I understand why they won't work for most. I'll meet you guys one of these days.
Of course, we all do..should keep trying and start with the most we get.. It would never be perfect for a 100% ever...let's keep trying and see the best we can do.
I'd also prefer beer. Beer and eggs aren't a good mix though...
Since I have become the "organizer" of this thing, It'd be fantastic if we could all meet one evening or morning...however if some wanna grab a beer one night and grab breakfast another Id like the opportunity to meet everyone. I'm more than willing to make the time for both. (Also, I have no life and look for any excuse to drink..)
I think I can do a somewhat late breakfast 2/8...I'm picking up an axle that weekend and don't know when...
2/8 brunch should work for me as well. Not sure, if it'd work for kids. But, that's a start. For me longer durations need to be planned or scheduled, but can find time here and there for an hour or two. So, open for a drink meet up too - a couple days of notice, time and place and I am there.
Will call an audible on kids coming along, depends on what they did the night before and plans that day, many times firm during the week in question. So, a tentative yes. Mine are 10 & 5, so a bit younger. Might just workout, will see.
Yeah, I don't care either way if you bring the youngin's...but tentative yes for me as well. We'll see what the rest of the weeks brings.
I'm off to bed!
