Would anyone be open to going? It would be my 1st time out. If anyone is willing to help a newbie out..... I can do some custom decals or paracord grab handles as a thanks. We may get a winch before Friday but I'm currently on stock tires.

I would skip work and head there with you...but...I'll be headed to Indiana for a re-gearing Friday.

However, myself and ROD_ are heading up there on Sunday the 24th. It's our 2nd time out, and we're bringing along a buddy of mine who picked up a de-militarized 1980's Hummer (it will be his first time out wheeling). You're welcome to join us. Although we're still pretty new, I think our first trip out there (getting lost and going through stuff we probably shouldn't have), made us veterans pretty quick.

What kind of custom decals do you do? I'm actually in the market for some right now.

Sunday may be a possibility too. I have a four day weekend so I'm pretty flexible.

I can cut decals up to 23" long, pretty much any solid color design and text. That's the length of the one on the side of my hood. (pics in my gallery) Its just a personal hobby though..... i like designing stuff and then my cutter does all the work.

I might be able to go either day, although I'd have to take a day off from work to go on Friday. I'm not sure if I can get it off on such short notice. I checked the weather forecast and Friday is supposed to be 70 and sunny but there's a 50% chance of rain on Sunday with a high of 75. I'm still a bit of a newbie, but I have been to Cliff's once. I think that I did quite well. I only got stuck twice.

I had to schedule a vac day for Friday because my son's school calendar said it was a half day. Then I got an email saying it changed to a full day so I figured I could just cancel my vac day and work.....or go to Cliffs.

Not only did I keep my vac day, I signed my son up for the 2 hr after school program for Friday. Lol. (He likes it and I gave him the option to choose.)

The website says they open for some holidays that fall on monday. I'm not sure if they are going to open but if they do and it doesn't rain, I'd consider going back on monday.

I plan on getting there around 10am, in case anyone ends up going tomorrow. I was already considering going back on Sunday as well but the weather forecast isn't looking great.

WhiteJeep.....good luck with your re-gearing! I'd like to see pics of the Hummer too....I bet it's a beast.

Just wondering what you mean? Do you design and manufacture decals? I am curious as I was exploring getting the military star decals for my Jeep.

How long does it take to get them?

Thanks

May b I could go for a couple hrs...what's the meeting time?

Count me in. See you in the AM!

Who cares. You will do fine. Come out and let's have some fun.

That's what bumpers and fenders are for. The last time that I went, there was someone there with street tires and he did just fine. It was pretty muddy that day, too. I think that I was the only one that got stuck (twice) and I have off road tires. You'll just appreciate your new tires that much more when you get them.

Give your mom the keys and tell her to meet us at 9:30! LOL

So I woke up to rain and was like WTF? Hope this don't scare you guys off.

Glad you guys still got to go out there and have fun this weekend. I can't wait to go back, but next time I will drag the jeep guys at work out there to make sure I'm not the only Jeep.

The weather was so nice on Friday that it was worth being cautious and not going very far in..... we still had fun just being off pavement.

Awhitejeep did you make it home? Hopefully all is good.

Had a blast. Enjoyed the winching. Find it more interesting when it's not just a straight pull but takes some thought to not get damage or get around an obstacle.

Hope we didn't upset anyone holding up the trail!! Thanks for all the help everyone.

All is good. Got stuck in a little bit of a puddle/mud, but after some creative winching, Wingit, Rod, and the Hummer got me out. Had to baby it for a while, and putt putt it as far as I could, eventually Rod and then the Hummer tied up and tow strapped me out.

We cleared the error codes with an OBD2, she ran fine for a minute, but then the error codes came back and she ran like crap. Crazy death wobble at 35 mph, and some grinding/screeching in the back rear. Thought we damaged some stuff from the Humvee pulling us out, but everything looked ok.

In the end I drove to the highway, and then called for a tow truck. Wasn't going to be able to limp it home that far.

Got it home, power washed it, pulled all the mud out of the rock guards/rims, and she runs ok. Death wobble is gone, and she runs fine until the error codes come back. Looks like I have to replace a few sensors and she'll be good to go!

In the end, the Jeep's ok, we had a fun struggle getting out, and we learned a lot, so my wife and I are sort of happy it happened as it was a good experience.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help.

Here we are waiting for the tow truck:

I'm glad that it wasn't anything major. Hopefully you didn't have to wait too long for the tow truck. It was interesting watching everyone pull you out of the pit. I'm just happy it wasn't me this time. The last time I went, Wingit had to pull me out of a similar pit, although I didn't get that far in.
