Someone sliced open my window last night...

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie to the forum and I am hoping maybe someone can help me. I have a 2008 Black Wrangler X 2dr...some knuckehead decided to break in last night and shredded the passenger side rear window.

I talked to the dealership this morning and they want almost $300 for a new one. Anyone have any ideas on where to possibly get one a little cheaper?

Thanks so much in advance!
Ryan

Don't lock your doors. Take your valuables with you, so you do not have to continue to replace windows or your whole top.

Make, sure your insurance allows it. Mine will not me allow to have a,deductible of anything lower than $500 for full coverage.

Sucks to hear, about what, they, did. I had some Jack ass break into my center console at the parking garage downtown, and out of al the useless stuff I had in there, they only took my USB cable for my phone. Left the CDs, loose change and memory cards all over the floor board to let me know what they did. I had no doors or top either so I guess it was just a way to be a d-bag.

You might want to consider changing insurance... That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.

No way, ill deal with a $500 deductible with Progressive. Been a customer for over 10 years with the loyalty program, we pay $45 a month to have 2 cars with full coverage.

Thats cheap. but then again that deductible is steep!

Mine is around 60 a month or something, and I have a 100 dollar deductible. So best of both worlds!

OP, look on Craigslist, I see windows/tops on there all the time as people upgrade or go to aftermarket.

Yeah it is a bit steep, but with the loving wifey I have, she makes sure we have $500 in the chase (aka jeep) account for that, and only that.

Anyway, sorry to have hijacked thread .. carrying on now.

Ok, this has happened to me several times. Do you have glass coverage? If the slice is in the clear window part then it is covered. Insurance company wanted to go aftermarket which I said was fine but aftermarket windows are sold in sets of three. They said they would not replace all three windows even though the price was cheaper than the one window from the dealer. So, each time, I end up with one new window from the dealer.

If you have allstates free glass replacement plan they will cover it. No deductible needed

Does anyone know if a 2002 factory window will fit my 2008 factory soft top on a Jeep Wrangler X?

Thanks so much!

I've been told this by several Jeep Soft Top owners & owners of other veh's with soft tops as well.

For stuff I don't have any other place to put other than the Jeep and don't want it stolen - I'm saving for the (don't remember what you call it) thing you add behind the back seat so it's secure when rear hatch is locked.

No sir, it will not!

Bummer about the window. I'm just waiting for them to break into mine so I NEVER lock my doors and keep my valuables else where. I'd rather them root around and find nothing and leave than to have a sliced window with same results. Unfortunately wranglers are an easy target for thieves.
