Turndown exhaust

Beas looking at a magnaflow turndown exhaust (ends before rear axle if ya didn't know) and it says on the site to check with your local laws about the legality of the system. Well I googled the $hit outta it and couldn't really get a definitive answer. Anybody know anything about laws regarding this?

Here's the link to the product

Thanks folks!

new exhaust huh? don't wanna sway you away but wouldn't that just get all ripped to shreds when wheelin? and who wants to hear that loud exhaust when wheelin in the woods?

you could trim your exhaust up to the cat if you want and it'll be a bit throaty-er. do that first and if you don't like it then buy the exhaust. could save you some extra $$$ but hey do what you want

It wouldnt get hung up anymore than the normal muffler would...it would just terminate sooner than most exhausts

Thanks folks!
Save ur $$....Go to farm and Fleet and buy a "welded Thrush" muffler for about $40 and a 90 degree pipe, put a bologna cut into the pipe on the back of it pointing down... The muffler is a 2 1/2 inlet and outlet (center/center).....

The only thing I think you guys over in Will County may have to worry about one of these years is emmissions testing???? If/when that happens I think you would have to go back to a full length tail pipe (for the testers convenience).

Yea good stuff people. I really wasn't sure about what emissions would have to say so if it would be an issue I'd rather not have to worry about changing anything back and forth. Oh well. Think I'll pass on it for the time being

I went for my emissions last month. they did not look at the muffler or plug anything to it. They inserted a cord under the drivers side dash (where the plastic ends) and plugged it in for a few mins and that was it

I remember reading something years ago about the exhaust had to exit so far past the rear seat. Not sure where or when I read it. Another thought is you will smell the exhaust inside if it exits the muffler directly under the Jeep. I had that problem on my old CJ. It turned my shocks black too.

Negative on the exhaust smell, thats y u use the pipe and cut it.....you can still go with a good high flow muffler and put a tailpipe on it... You will get the cool sound and no restriction/backpressure..... Autobone has tailpipes for $50 and $40 for the muffler.... Clamps $6 beer $12.... Thats a deal....
