Cool, I'm in Monticello all the time. Abbots does my oil change and my GF's son has Soccer practice out there. Where you go crawling out here? Mine is stock with just 30" tires, but she held her own in NH.

Hi, Samantha from Elgin, just got my 1st Jeep on 4/25/12 (although now I am a 3rd generation Jeep owner in my family), already upgraded her tires, She is pretty, but she needs to get dirty I saw the web site for The Cliffs, has anyone been there, do have beginner courses and/or classes?

Samantha the Cliffs is great but I would suggest headin out to the Badlands first.. Its more open and begginer friendly terrain. The Cliffs has some real tight spots and if you don't know the trails you could end up somewhere you don't wanna be.

Or you could even sign up for the Jeepfest in July (if you wanna wait that long). There will be guided trail runs for everyone from beginner on up.

The cliffs are fun but don't go after it rains without a winch spent 2 hours getting through the carnage trail

Badlands are great for noobs. Ive been twice and didn't have any problems. It's a great place. There's always (most I the time) an easy way out if you don't feel comfortable. I learned alot about my jeep on those 2 runs. My suggestion is to trailer it whether it's a dd or not. There was a bunch of stuff I wanted to try but was nervous about the potential for breaking something bc I had to drive it 2 hours home!! Either way made it home in one piece and it was a blast. Haven't been to the cliffs so I can't speak for that. Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth!

I love the Cliffs, it's challenging.
There are some rough spots and the ground is clay like so you don't grip well if it is wet or has been wet in the past 10 years...LOL

It takes just as long to clean it off as it did wheelin afterward, not really kidding.
It's allot of fun and it doesn't have to be to a bad time even for beginners. The Cliffs is where I learned my truck and then the Badlands 2nd.
In retrospect I would have gone to the Badlands first.

There is a off road group called Down and Dirty off road out in NW Burbs area. They have a good following if anyone is interested.

They always have something going on check out the site, there is even a phone number to call for up to date group events and upcomings.
