Smile 2014 Rubicon on the way!

Hey all, I just wanted tio share the good news. My 2014 custom factory built Rubicon sets sail today across the Atlantic enroute to Budapest! I ordered it on August 5, it was built on September 9, arrived in Baltimore (State of Maryland) on September 14, and starts its journey to Europe today, Sep 20th.

I think it takes 6 to 8 weeks to arrive in Budapest. A long wait!
I feel like a child just before Christmas.

I ordered this lovely beast!

That's awesome! The upcoming weeks will be a torture for you, but once you will be siting in the leather heated seats, I'm sure you feel like a superhero!

My Red Rubi arrived in Budapest! Unfortunately it could take 5 to 7 days to clear customs and inspection, and then she's in my hands!

I hope you had a fun winter with your Rubicon!

How did you go about ordering? Did you order from a dealer in the US or via a local dealer? Would be interesting to hear the details as there is very few models and colors available at the local dealerships here.

I used a company called Diplomatic Automobile Sales , which gave me a great price. Instead of using their online options, I went to the Jeep company website and designed the exact vehicle as I wanted it - loaded with the features wanted. Then I sent the factory description to DipSales and they worked with Jeep (Ohio) to built it to order. The price was about $8,000 less than any other dealer in the USAA would offer.

Because I am a US Foreign Service Officer posted overseas, the U.S. Government picked up the vehicle once it arrived in Baltimore and shipped it to Budapest for free. Also, I paid no sales tax, or import taxes - so the end rice was far better than anything I could have found locally.

I've been playing with it off road ever since! I LOVE it!

Thanks for all the info. I have to get into the diplomatic community then

I assume you have to bring the car out of the country when/if you move back home or pay taxes if you sell it within the EU?

Anyway, sounds like you have made a dream deal! Especially since not having to pay shipping and taxes. And the red rubi looks beautiful!

I opted for a Billet silver Sahara with the Pentastar, there where only a few diesel rubis available locally and I didn't want a diesel. I am aslo very happy with my Jeep. Will do some light customisation including new wheels and tires and a minor lift/levelling kit. Also looking for a new bumper. The EU front bumper is just ugly, looking for options and maybe even a standard (US) bumper.

Yes, I have to export it, or the new buyer has to pay all the import customs taxes.

I need to get a winch now. We're taking it off road every weekend I know one of these days I will get stuck!

Here's a shot from last week. Not difficult terrain now, but the fall will see lions of mud here!

Yes! But before I did, I got stuck in deep mud and had to have someone pull me out! That was a year ago, and so far I have not ben stuck since. Go figure.
