2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

My new 2012 Rubicon Unlimited finally arrived! This is my second Wrangler, but this one is simply incredible!

My mods include: BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO - 305/65R17, KMC XD795 HOSS Black rims, (standard offset) Brushed Stainless Sill Guards, Slush Mats, Chrome Gas Cap Cover, and chrome side steps. (Jeep)

This drives so much better than the 2011's I drove - honestly, it's not even close, and was well worth my wait. The extra power makes it a much more capable daily driver. The BFG's are very quiet...

One major complaint with the design team though. Now, let it be said right off, this was entirely my mistake, however, it is a very easy mistake to make.

I was giving my Rubi it's first bath as a proud new owner. Pulled the wiper blades out, cleaned the window to a nice shine. Popped the hood to dry neatly around the edges and admire my new Pentastar engine. In horror, I realized too late, the wipers were still out.

Yep, you guessed it - two scratches on my beautiful black hood from the sharp end of the wiper blades. I'm now going to have to have them repaired. Too deep to buff out.

Yes, it was totally my fault, but really...come on. My Ford, and every vehicle I've now been noticing have little plastic or rubber caps on the end of the wipers to prevent just such an incident.

Two 20 cent wiper caps from the factory would have save me much mental anguish, and probably a hundred dollars in scratch repair.

Yep, I know it's gonna get more scratches, but after 4 days. It was heartbreaking. Can I add more images here, or do I have to start a new thread?

I bought my tires and rims (seen above) from TireRack.com. The guy said they do lots of Jeeps, and said that these were the biggest I could put on it without a lift according to his calculations, based on the 2011 Rubicon specs. (He didn't have the 2012 specs yet but understood they were the same as the '11)

Actually, he said these were slightly over spec in width, and if I was going to do rock crawling the width could become an issue in lateral movement. As I said above, after a lot of research, I chose the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO - 305/65R17 knowing it was going to be more of a street ride than rock crawler. They are 12" wide vs the 10" ones that come on it from the factory. I went with the standard offset as seen above to keep them just at the edge of the fender flares.

I think it's a nice fit and gives it a much wider looking stance. They do wonder a bit more with all that rubber on the road, but it's really not bad and are extremely quiet and smooth.

It is worth mentioning though that while the '12 rates out at a nice 17/20 mpg, I'm only getting about 14 mpg in town with the bigger wheels. No power issues at all, but mpg did take it in the shorts... Hope this helps some.

I just got a brand New 2013 JK Sahara 2DR, it only has 1,000 miles on it. I was washing it and i did the EXACT same thing. Now I have two almost identical scratches on my beautiful silver hood. How much was it to have it repaired? It's literally going to make me go insane.
