Australian Bush Fire Pictures

Last Saturday I took my Daughter 15 miles down the road to pick up a cage for her new Kitten on the way home I noticed a small plume of smoke which grew larger my the minuite .Suddenly it dawned on me that it was coming from somewhere near home.Allsorts of things went through my mind as we made our way up our narrow tree lined road fortunately when we got home which is on top of the hill we found the fire to be on the other side of the valley.I called my wife who was out shopping told her to come straight home and sent her off to her mothers in the city with the kids and the photo albums.

any way here are a few pictures.

shortly after arriving home looking East

20 min later looking east

Looking NE from the top Paddock 40 min after arriving home

Looking NNE from Top Paddock about 8 hours later after the wind change

Wow. Nice pics. I was reading about the fires in an article yesterday about how some of those fires are being investigated as arson and mass murder. Why would someone do something like that? Where do you live down there so I can look it up on a map?

I have some similar pics I took years ago of a forest fire in Oregon while I was camping. I got a couple of night shots too.

Just be safe and don't do anything dumb. There is no material possession or camera angle worth your life.

I live about half way between Kilmore & Wandong about 40 miles north of Melbourne .

The fires in my imediate area are pretty well blacked out but I will be very nervious when the wind changes again It has been Southerly to Easterly pretty much since Saturday Night.

I'm in favour of removing anyone who would deliberately do this from the Gene Pool .
