My wife wants me to put ugly chrome rims on our TJ. I keep changing the subject.

Looks awesome!

I'm debating putting black rims on my 98 Sahara. Its hunter green...and will have full metal doors and a black hardtop. Yay or nay?

I like the stockers myself...they look awesome painted a slate gray with the silver jeeps.

Bonus to you...you can sell the stock wheels probally for more than what you paid for those black Dwindows.

Yeah, stock rubi's are one of my favorite rims. Just can't find any locally at a decent price.

I like the steelies better...but that's just me. Stock rims are nice looking...but just don't look as "tough" as a set of black steel wheels. Stockers look more like they belong on a street driven Jeep and not a trail rig.

+1 on those steelies my friend! Just set the Jeep off right, the stockers just seem a bit too simple.

Steel rims are THE way to go ! I went with the Black Rock 997 Type 8.

Much sweeter than the alloy! Selling the alloys for other mods is a great idea!

PS. Need black lug nuts too !

If you can sell the stock wheels for more then the steelies (which you should) then I say good deal. Otherwise I would have just painted the stock wheels. At least the stock wheels won't rust, they could still corrode but not nearly as fast as steel wheels will if scratched.

I like the black rims better on your jeep, but on a black jeep, I prefer chrome to set it off.

I got rid of my MOABs too and replaced them with Dick Cepek DC-1 wheels.
They didn't stay pretty for long after being on the rocks a few times. live and learn I guess.

I like the look of the black steelie too. Especially the soft 8.

One thing you might do that will help just a little bit (sacrelage to some folks, I know) is get yourself some Eagle-1 All Wheel & Tire cleaner and a scrub brush and get after those tires.

One of these days I'll have the cash rattling around so I can get a set of soft 8s. In the meantime I'm thinking of painting my DC-1 wheels satin black.
