Any jeepers who are hunters? I know the jeep isn't the do all vehicle when it comes to hunting but it'll get you where you gotta go and get you out.

I got a 6pt two weeks ago (one antler missing, so technically 4pts) about 15min before sundown. Two more weeks of archery before gun opens here. I use the Jeep w/ a 40x48 trailer. I can get it within 100yds of pretty much anywhere on the the farm that we hunt.

I don't think this is too messy to post. This is the only picture I got. Hard to take a decent photo alone in the dark when I'm eager to finish up and head home.

Got this guy at around 8:45 this morning. We saw him in an open field hanging out with the ranch animals. We started driving towards him and he took off running. Took the 1st shot and missed a little low. Chased him down in the truck and when we got about 120 yards from him he stopped to look at us. Took the 2nd shot and dropped him where he was standing.

It was nice enough this afternoon to take out the naked Jeep and help Cousin Dave check the zero on his modern muzzleloader. (Texas has a muzzleloader season for two weeks after rifle season ends.)

Here we are on our improvised 100 yard range. The barely visible target in the distant sand trap is printed from MYTARGETS.COM and taped to an old mineral tub. I like this one for sighting in rifles 3 inches high at 100 yards.

With a brisk breeze to our backs, the black powder smoke cloud did not linger long but good timing on my part captured this image.

Well, I was not hunting with the Wrangler. This Nutria was shot on the edge of our lake 180 yards from a picnic table and a sandbag behind the house. But I did use the naked Sahara to drive down and take the picture. It probably weighed about 15 pounds.

Proud of making the shot but not proud of taking the little guy, it's pest control. Nurtria are aquatic rodents that can destroy dams like the one we have for our lake. Can't let that happen.

I had my bear processed into cured hams with the hind quarters and pepperoni sticks with the rest. Was really good.

I drew a Limited Entry archery elk tag this year. In June I had to have an emergency knee replacement (had a replacement 3 years ago that fell apart). My year was hosed at that point. I'll draw the tag again next year. Surgery June 11 & was good enough to defy docs orders & still hunt the general archery hunt & shoot a cow late August. Been able to shoot a few birds also

Bringing this thread back from the dead...

Got this big boy and his smaller brother late Friday night out at the ranch. He is a monster, biggest one we have killed out there yet. He had to be all of 300#. His brother was a little leaner at around 250#.
