I've never taken the Jeep camping, usually just my truck since it has more hauling capacity.
I use a trailer for my camp gear. Holds everything we need to be self sufficient in the woods for a week or 2, and still have room for friends gear.

Speaking of kayaks, here's a pic of mine. We were camping when this pic was taken.

And a pic camping at RRG back in November.

Get a fishing kayak. That's what we have, it is awesome. It's a tandem kayak with 6 rod holders and a 20" live well.

Do you put anything between the jeep and the kayak, or does it just ride on the winshield and roll bar?

I wouldn't need six rod holders, but a live well would come in handy.

Don't have a lot of photos of camp...but I usually camp with a group of friends from my reptile website down in southern IL, just south of Carbondale and then we drive down to a place known as Snake Road (LaRue-Pine Hills area of Shawnee National Forest) to search for reptiles (especially venomous snakes) all weekend.

The roads in Shawnee National Forest...

My playing with a copperhead...

Timber rattlesnake we found while hiking after dark...

General Camping Pic

I'm on the left...

Campsite during a weekend fall trip...snake hunting in the same location but we camped 10 miles down the road rather than up near Carbondale which is a good 25+ miles away. This was before the torrential rains hit the following morning...and we had a river of runoff going underneath our tents. I woke up feeling the water flowing under my tent and thought the Mississippi River had broken its banks!

Playing with a very agitated cottonmouth...

Last shot...sunset shot from the road we walk. On one side is this swamp...on the other side are tall bluffs. That's why it's such a popular place for reptiles and amphibians. They migrate from their winter dens in the bluffs to the swamp during the spring months and then during the fall months they migrate from the swamp back up to the bluffs. If you go on a good day...you can see hundreds of snakes. We hit it during the migration one year...saw dozens of snakes and THOUSANDS of toads. The toads were so thick there were areas we had to slide our feet while walking so we wouldn't squish them.

A few pics from our summer adventures. The husband and I both have our own rigs we like to drive on the trails. The son rides with my husband and his Girlfriend with me :-) Between the Tj and YJ we can back enough stuff for 4 people for a week.

I have a picture of the them loaded up from the rear but can't find it right now.

Athough I have been having a blast in the snow, I cannot wait for camping season.

Best thing is, where I live, you get both in the spring and early summer.

Camp down below where it's warm, climb up the trails into the snow to play.
