I've been into Radio Control Four Wheel Drive vehicles since I was a kid. I just wanted to share a few pictures of a Jeep Body that I made and have been beating the snot out of since last winter.
The body panels are made from Light weight yet extremely durable aircraft Grade aluminum. The hood opens up and that is where the battery gets mounted. The battery is the heaviest part of the Jeep so I wanted that to be up front over top of the front axle where the bulk of the weight should be. The winshield frame has lexan plastic in it to achieve that 'glass' look, It folds down just like a real jeep and can be easily removed. The roll cage is made from 3/16 steel tubing. This RC Jeep also has a 1/4 inch thick frame under it that the four link suspension links connect to. The transmission is geared way down for Rock Crawling so the RC only moves at about a walking pace but has some incredible power. The front and rear axles are locked and it also has bead-lock wheels.
Enjoy the pics!!
I also made a bikini top from one of my wife's old purses. It turned out pretty good.
Nice long arm suspension. Have you built any nitro RC jeeps?
I had a NitroTmaxx that I put a Yellow Lexan Jeep body on. I got real tired of just watching an insanely fast RC just going back and forth, It got real boring so that's what got me into the RC Crawling scene.
pretty cool. i wanted to buy and build those, but once i found out i can buy real axles for the price of those axles i decided to just keep building my jeep
"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president." http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/data...re_cowbell.gif
^ Yes. and some of the transmissions are a pretty penny too. They even make real functional winches for them now for about a 4th of the price of a real winch. I just use my EMaxx modded out for crawling. It gets me by.
Battery RC is neat, but rebuild that boy with one of the larger traxxas nitro motors and prepare to be really impressed!! I have a couple nitro RC buggy's that are killer but everytime I upgraded something the next thing down the line would break.
that is a really wicked project just needs some nitro luvin!
