painted the fenders

hey guys! (and girls!)
finally got around to painting the fenders
Supplies I used: painting tape, masking tape, newspapers, windex and rag, and 1 can of Krylon Satin black

it was easier than I thought, especially with 2 people. It was my first time doing this, so it took a little longer.
I only got before and after pics, so here ya go....

some supplies I started with... I dumped the index cards for newspapers and used different tape...

AFTER

heres a before and after shot
BEFORE

AFTER

let me know if ya have any questions!

did you tape off everything and rattle can it ? or did you actually remove the fenders and then paint?

my next project is to paint my fender flares. im gonna remove em and spray them with something. dont know what yet. got half a gallon of some rustoleum left over from another project. might try that.

well I heard it was hard to take the fenders off, and honestly just kinda wanted to get it over with
so I just taped over the ends with painting tape, the put newspaper over the rest (my painting skills aren't the best lol) it came out pretty good. I only went through about half the can of paint too

I did that to mine a while back. I took fronts and rears off and primed them first, then sprayed them the factory stone white and clear coated.

I did mine awhile back. I used Dupi-color for bumpers. It is a flat black that will hopefully be easier to touch up. So far I haven't needed to though

i have been painting alot on my jeep lately, duplicolor, on metal i use rustolium then a top coat of whatever, usually bed liner, then i primered my roll cage, and primered and bedlinered the interior and used a vynal dash for the dash, its black now, was tan...
i never taped anything when i did the roll cage, never got a single spec of over spray on anything...hahaha

That is freaking awsome. I am gonna try that with mine but go with a spice/tan color. I think it would look good with my green jeep and tan top. I called krylon and they only recommeded fusion, but there isn't a good color for me in that. Since you just used their regular line I may try that on my rocker panels and see how it holds up first. Great to see someone who tried it!!!

Well I was trying in microsoft paint to get the color of the hard top but it was kinda difficult. Yes I will get paint almost the exact color or I won't do it at all. I was just trying to get a general idea of the end result. I am glad you like the idea. I don't think anyone has done it yet, at least not to my knowledge. I may try it in the next week or so....

I think that contrast with forest green will look great. Go for it!

I used the Duplicolor roll on truck bed liner from Walmart on mine and they turned out awesome. $25 a gallon and I used less then a quart. One thing about it the stuff will NEVER come off.
