I've had my father's dog tag since I was about 12. It's one of the few treasures (along with his patches) that I managed to not lose over the years. His name is actually spelled wrong, and it has the divit on the end, Vietnam era.

My grandfather's tag (WWII era) was in my grandmother's lockbox when she died. They'd been divorced since she was 19 but she always said he was the only man for her.

It's a bit hard to see but I've got a little hematite bear, with a turquoise disc under it, with a silver feather under the turquoise, hanging from my rearview mirror. My bear has watched over every vehicle I've had, except the first one.
I'm going to need another little bear, to hang in my bug, when I get it running.

I've got my doggers and the bullet I received on graduation day from sniper school at Benning.

I keep my old original blue Infantry cord hanging from the rearview of my mom's Mustang (I sold her the car when I moved to Cali). She likes it.

Amy I have a little gold plastic angel that I think was a Christmas tree ornament at one time that has looked over me in the last 6 vehicles I've owned. She's hanging from the footman loop on the top of my windshield keeping an eye on me.

Maybe the forum will have to put our heads together and find you a bear for your Beetle when you and Skeeter get it done. I'm sure the only thing we'd ask for in return would be TONS of pics of the rebuilding process.

Post up a pic of your lil guardian angel.

I appreciate the thought, Cavey. There will be plenty of pictures. Now that the garden is done for the year we can get going on the bug.

Won't be much to see until spring. Since the shop isn't heated we won't be doing any paint work till things warm up again. Right now we're just gathering parts.

And please put the bear in the bug, I keep expecting your windshield to shatter the way the bear beats the crap out of it when we're out wheeling.

This would look better if you had a shrunken head hanging with it.

Maybe you should have said I'm a safe driver because i don't text, talk on the phone, or anything other than pay attention to the road and wave to Jeepers.....unless somehow you are a safe driver who can do all of these things while driving. HA, but seriously, no texting!
