Cool Pics from behind your windshield

Lets dedicate a thread solely to pics from behind the windshield. Let the world see just what we see when we are behind the wheel of our machines. (or in the passenger seat for safety...) Try not to get off topic, lets keep it short and sweet and post those pics! I want to see Vegas at night, the top of the last hill you climbed, clouds 'cause your lookin' straight up!, muddy glass, the back of the rig in front of you, national monuments, New York City, whatever... wherever... whenever...

Here are mine to start us off;

This is at the Mounds in Mt. Morris MI

This is at the furthest exit on I75 North before the Mackinaw Bridge in MI

This is on the Mackinaw Bridge

This is in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest in the U.P. of MI. Notice the Red tinted road from all the Iron Ore up there

This is a random town in Wisconsin just before getting back to the MI Border

This is on the Zilwaukee bridge near Saginaw MI, perfect time to wake up the wife by screaming like something is coming straight at us!

Construction Ahead? YES! There might be some dirt, I feel a pull to the right!

Finally some dirt! Who needs detours when you got a Jeep!

It's in Barrington, NH. It's about 40 min away from Lowell. I'll let you know the next time I go. Should be in about 2-3 weeks.

Hey JIMBO, that was taken right out of La Porte. Gold Lake is probably 20 miles as the crow flies. Summer time would be La Porte-Johnsville road (a trail road) or black-top would be La Porte-Quincy to get to Gold Lake. These roads are still closed up up there due to snow and they're talking about end of June opening. Otherwise snowmobile is the only way to get there in the winter. Johnsville-La Porte Road is a beautiful trip. Have you taken it?

JIMBO I was thinking of Gold Lake. Bucks Lake would be the Quincy Road from La Porte (32 miles to Quincy) and then whatever the mileage is from Quincy to Bucks. Have a friend that has a cabin at Bucks Lake but have not been there. Maybe we could do it this summer?

No just the off-road from the old Gold Lake hiway, around the South/West of the lake and then 2yrs ago-lots of snow

yea, that Southern end is a lot of fun and there are only a couple fairly difficult spots on the trail, but can be a challenge

The few campspots have Bear box's and if there's still snow around, best to useem And I'll take the trailer, but we'll probably sleep in the jeep

Lets keep this in mind around tfor he start of July !!

Part of Johnsville La Porte Road, Plumas County, CA

These photos were taken June 2009. This year the area still has a reported 5' to 6' of snow so it'll be a while before this trail opens. Although we're finally getting some warm weather so hopefully it will go down pretty fast.

Gold Mine Tour, Plumas County, CA

Mostly Jeeps, but a few 4-wd cars that created a problem later in the day!

Above photos headed toward an early Hydraulic mine.

Tan ford in the above photo broke his left axle, shut things down & wound up with the wheel & axle out and a log chained under the axle and towed up about a half mile by a "RUBI" no less so it could be picked up by a tow truck that evening. The area where the vehicles are parked used to be part of the mountain height at the top of the picture. Hydraulic mining (was like a car wash on steroids!) washed the mountain away until they were satisfied they had gotten all the "gold" out of it they could.

Above is where it all stopped til they got him out of the way and 2 Jeeps stayed with him.

Wrapped up the day at "Black Diamond Mine" not because of "diamonds" but the Ridge was called "Black Diamond Ridge". Mt Etna is the peak in the picture.

Interesting day for the group with some 4 wheeling in spots. Not bad but great scenery.

This year's trip (2010) will be limited to Jeeps only.

the Ft. Pitt Tunnel, leaving downtown Pittsburgh.

average speed of my drive home.

this is why

who cares if it's pouring down rain. This is a cheesey trail on my way home I hit.

and at the top. If it weren't raining I'd continue. Veer off to the right is an old coal mine with loads of steep hill climbs.

I'm cheating a little. They put these flags up yearly since 9/11/01. 1 per life lost. Its truly a beautiful/touching sight to see. Or I'm just sentimental?

anywho. I like it.
