That is what I noticed in Moab, last year, on a YJ with a V8, with leaf springs. Everytime we came to a vertical challenge, he would bunny hop, to the point of almost snapping his 14 bolt. He would have to back down, and go around the obstacle. On another observation, he had not stretched his wheel base, either. I am sure that had a lot to do with it, as well. From the research, and questions, that I have done, and asked, the coilovers are about the best way to go, with the least bit of hassle. The airshocks, are less expensive, but have to be calibrated, almost every run. That is just way to much hassle, IMO. I like vertical challenges, and a good four link, with coilovers, seems to do a great job, of handling the unnerving part, of sticking your nose, up in the air.

No. I've secretly been running his prototype springs for quite awhile.

Here's one from Sledgehammer 3 weeks ago. Almost looks like it's from the same spot the photo in my Avitar was taken... minus the winch line.

Lookin good Scout. Now turn them Claws around. They will work better on the rocks and will wear better when completely rotated.

In Sand or Mud I'd say yes to that. But on the Rocks I feel they work much better backwards. More tire surface are on the face of the terrain will help the tires grab. Plus on the rocks at times directional tires have a tendency to grab and then pull you which ever way it happens to grab first. This happens especially when the rocks are wet. Running them backwards has cured all of that. I also like to do a full rotation on them to prevent cupping and even out the wear on them.

Thanks! Traction was a bit of a problem the first day but we fixed that with some lower air pressure.

I'll try reverse them next time too!

Hey Scout, the only problem you will have with reversing the direction of the tires, is hydroplaning. When the roads are wet, it will actually make you rise out of the water. Them AZ boyz, don't have to worry about that. Just thought I would let you know, as the wifey, almost lost it, when I reversed them. On the trail, drop your air to about 15lbs. and you will walk up anything, assuming yours are radials.

Thanks Jack and Axel. I'll give it a try reversing them next time I have some traction problems on the trail.

And Axel you're right - 15 lbs was the magic number.

Don't worry about it Hardy. Some of the best pics come from just goofin around. Here's a pic of some buddies of mine that were goofing around a few years back and caught the attention of the staff at a local establishment. I'm sure you can guess which establishment that is.
