I never served but have a lot of family who have either put time in or are currently active duty:
My Father - Army, Vietnam
My stepfather - Marine, Vietnam
My older brother - Army
My youngest brother - Navy, medic attached to Marine unit
My other youngest brother (they're twins) recently joined the Army and is currently in basic.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other pictures of family in the service. Both of my grandfathers were in WWII. One served in the Pacific and the other served in England (took the Queen Elizabeth over and was also on the beach at Normandy).
Again, thank you all for your service!
Edit: just found this picture of my best friend in Iraq (10/7/2003):
First one is in Kosovo '99. The Army made us destroy those Tommy guns. Some old Albanian man turned them in, about 10 of them. They were still wrapped and greased from an allied air drop from WWII. I swear half the guys in my unit were crying that day.
The second is from a jump in Wyoming. My friend took it of me as we came down. I miss jumping to this day.
Me and the wife at the Air Force Ball 2009. She just got out of Basic and was the lowest ranking person at Elmendorf AFB, AK.
Awesome! my wife and I both were active duty. She joined before I did and when we had our joint retirement in 2004 we had over 43 years of total service. I did 21.5 years and she did 22.5. You guys can do it. It won't always be easy or fun, but when the 20's done, you'll look back and think of all the good times.
Me and my wonderful girlfriend at bootcamp graduation. Theres has to be atleast one sailor in here right?
Shes covering up my marksman ribbon for the 9mm. But I'm trying to get over to afganistan with the marines. I heard theyre looking for IT's to go IA.
nope.. not really.. and personally, from my experience out here, the navy is horrible when it comes to data.. im constantly helping out the seebees out here.. to the point that their master chief and battalion co knows me by name..
