you can get quite a bit of power out of
the cummins motors with not too much
effort.

Nah, I'd leave it like that. The rat rod bug thing is kinda cool actually.

@ skeeter & amy
I was working on this when I started driving about 2006. Was fun a '73 Super and had a really strange tranny - a clutchless stickshift. Had to sell though because at the time it was my only car and needed something more reliable for work.

My other car now is a 96 Blazer. I don't like it but at least its a 4x4. Just something for the girl to drive/ my beater car.

This thing is in amazing shape. The only rust is light surface rust from the previous owner starting the restoration by stripping the paint and not finishing the job. It sat in a garage for years with bare metal.
It deserves a full resto rod build.

Yep, autostick, when they work they work well but it was very difficult to keep em working. That's what's in Amy's vert but we've already got the parts to convert it to manual.

The red 65 we're driving now sat in front of the shop for over a year waiting for it's turn in the shop because I thought the Webber progressive carb was bad and I didn't feel like rebuilding it (I don't like Webbers much) turned out it had just lost the return spring for the secondaries. It had sat out in the woods for years before we got it so it has quite a bit of pan rust. As soon as Amy's vert and my Baja are on the road it'll come in for a complete, pan off restoration if we don't sell it first.
I love bugs.

That's awesome.

Just remember that anything bigger than a 36" deck won't fit through a gate.

Ok, but if I come back to this thread and the "little...work" you had left was spinners and a drop, I'm driving to round rock and kicking your ass.

my 99 "TRAIL RATED" NEON it sees more off road time than most 4x4's

here's a quick poser pic on a trail ride/trail cleanup last winter

my love before I got into jeeping
96 S10 V6 5spd ZQ8

not currently on the road and looks more like this now

and then there is my project rust bucket which has not had any progress made on it since I got it 3 years ago and I gave up on it before I even started

I originally got it to do a V8 swap and make it a go fast toy, but about that time I started getting hooked on jeepin/wheeling and my priorities changed, so I was going to do a solid axle swap using a YJ D30 and steering and turn it into a trail rig. but then I did the math and realized I was gonna have well over 4 grand in it just using junkyard parts before I would call it "trail ready". when you can buy a cheap but wheelable XJ for less than a grand and already have a capable running 4x4, I lost interest real quick. now I am just waiting for scrap steel prices to start climbing again THANKS CASH 4 CLUNKERS
