Shake Down run in the AZ Rocks

So Saturday Hackle, Joe (Absolute Offroad), and Lance headed out to hit some trails so that I could test my stretch and Hackle could test his new 10.3:1 4 Speed Atlas. All rigs performed up to and beyond expectations. Unfortunately I dumped my rig with Joe's step mom in there, but she was a good sport.

The stretch is amazing. I was able to crawl all of the climbs that I either had to be winched up before or had to use the skinny pedal and hope nothing broke.

And then comes the FLOP.

And yes that is gas leaking out. Yes I didn't put my gas cap on. Yes I'm a retard. Yes it was all cleaned up. And finally yes I've been catching hell from the boys about my gas cap since it happend.

Overall it was another great day to wheel in AZ.

I'm guessing you don't want to hear about it anymore.

Um, not really. But there still isn't a gas cap on it.

Looks great, I like the idea of no gas cap to save weight.

That looks like it was a pretty big flop. I think your next upgrade should be seats and harnesses.... and a new locking gas cap.

seats and harness? I think a nasty cage would suffice. Why didn't I see you in any of the pictures??

Because I work on the weekends, and that would have been a 100+ mile drive.

Nah, the stock seat belt held me in until I took it off because my smoke flew out of my mouth when we hit and I had to find it quick because of the little gas scenario. And it didn't get stolen. It got broken by me and I've just been lazy and switching the caps between the ZJ and TJ.

Do not let Jack's flop let you ignore the fact that he drove up the 3rd waterfall on C/D for the first time. That is a big deal!
Jack your rig worked great!
BTW I loved the new 4 speed Atlas the gears worked great for me and I no longer need to istall an auto tranny.
I did crawl one waterfall that I have never made before without bumping it. It is so cool being able to count the tire lugs as you go up an obsticle

This is funny but freaking nuts at the same time. You could have torched Joe's mom. I'll bet you could have smelled the fear.

Yeah, not the coolest thing I've ever done. I knew the gas was leaking down hill and behind me, but I really needed to find that real fast. Needless to say I'm going to get a new gas cap before I got out next time.

other than the gas cap are there any fine tuning things needing to be done or is it good right out of the box? everything worked okay with the shocks, coils and stuff?

Ben, yes there were somethings that needed to be worked out. Understanding that this is not a production suspension system or an upgrade yet will make that easier right now. We had goals we wanted to get to with shock lengths and coil height. I feel we are there with it and it is working as expected. Right now as it sits the pinion angle is a tad high in the rear, but not enough to mess with until the next time I need to do anything with it.

Rigs look great, and the trails look awesome.
I saw that you said you stretched your wheelbase... What is it sitting at now ??

Thanks guys.

Stinger, I'm now sitting right around 104 inches. All in the rear. Not really wanting to mess with the front yet. All in good time. I think with this rig if I can end up around 106 or 107 over the next year that will be perfect for what we do.

I hear ya, I am at 105 right now, and it works great, but here, I need alittle bit more. Think mine will be around 115 when I am done..
Great work though and a clean looking rig.
