I did this to my Black Jeep for September 11th. But the yellow ribbons will stay until my brother is home from Afghanistan.

Just added my Rough Country 2.5 inch suspension lift to my JK. Also added Rampage Locking Latches. More mods in the queue...

Thanks! And no, I'm not blacking out the tail lights. I just put on the guards, as you noticed

How do you like the rampage locking latches? I was looking at the daystar latches, but I like the locking option of those. Do they hold the hood tighter than the factory ones or is their sole purpose to lock the hood?

So do you think Black Box is the best wax for black cars?

Is it too messy?

thanks,

It's not that messy. If you do it in the steps it calls for, it doesn't leave any swirl marks. It is all black, so it will turn your hands & fingernails black. I usually wear gloves, but end up taking them off.

It's for the paint...I bought mine in a kit from Autozone...cost about $30...

Came with detailing spray, pre-wax cleaner & wax. All of it is black. For all the plastics I use 303 protectant...you can get that at any 4 wheel parts store or online.

Here's my 2012 fresh off the truck. I picked her up on Monday. Have some ACE rock sliders being shipped and will post picks when they are on. Thinking about a 2.5" teraflex lift at some point in the not too distant future. This thread helped make my decision to get a black one. Thanks!

Shell is right as usual,
The kit goes for about 23.00 US locally at Advance Auto parts. On a warm day you'll take the gloves off.
Beware! Some nitril gloves have talc in them. They will leave big nasty fingerprints on your finish when you take them off. Wash your hands before you touch the finish. If you have any trouble getting the black off your fingers, use some wd-40. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT try to apply the carnuba wax in direct sunlight. It will leave uneven areas. It was overcast when I started and I had to move to shade when the sun broke out.
When finished, park in front of your favorite diner and watch.

Picked it up from the dealer 9/29 and it was as reasonably clean as the teenagers the dealer hires to wash the new and serviced cars. She saw dirt/mud/ruts a few washes and rocks before the odometer hit 100.

Mine's going to look like the dude's when it grows up. His is awesome.
