What exactly do you DO when you catch one of these in a kayak? Tie it to the boat and paddle to shore?

Been tough fishing off the surf but final made time to go on the boat. Landed three between the three of us and pulled the hook on about 4 or 5 more (two of which were my doing. That's what I get for switching to a bait holder hook after religiously fishing circles for over a year. Here's my dinner tonight:

4th of July in Hackberry, LA. Trailer had a blowout a mile from the boat launch, and then we lost our landing net, ahhh fun.

Haven't had too much time to fish recently but I did finally get the boat in the water. Impulsivity got the better of me and I went out in big seas (6-8+' but rollers over a long interval so it wasn't that bad. Small craft advisory had expired only an hour before breaking the inlet) and only had time for two short drifts. Despite the short day, I managed to crush the fluke. Problem was, was that all of em were shorts.

Nice /\

Once I get my boat back up CJR I'll be looking for some flounder in my neck of the woods.

Caught this little fella at Matanzas & have no idea what species he is.

Wow I've never seen anything like that before. Almost seems like it could be some type of hybrid as it has features of a bunch of different species. The fluking up here has been unreal. My buddies fished a tournament today. While they didn't place, they still managed to boat a 7.7 pounder and a bunch more over 6 pounds. This is the first year I've targeted them so I still have a bit to learn. I found the fish last Wednesday but nothing too big. We had over 20 fish on board but 19 of them were short. I dropped a monster that day but at least we had a fun day on the water. Pics are of the same fish. On the boat and at weigh in. Fluke came in at 3.1 pounds.

Fluke/flounder are probably one of my favorite fish to eat. Looks like fun.

I posted that fish on another forum & it turns out to be an Atlantic threadfin. As common as they appear to be in the surf I'm surprised I've never caught one.

My SR year college roommate called me up and said he wanted to go fishing and catch some stuff he never caught before. I've never seen someone so excited to catch a skate and sea robin. He also caught his first fluke and I finally took the Carolina Skiff out fishing (work boat) and put some blood on the deck. Pics are the first fish on the skiff and today's pic from the weigh in. We had 7 keepers to 4.3 pounds and 2 sea bass. The other pics are just some of my favorites from the two trips. Driving by Barnegat Light in the skiff and cruising home today in the Boston Whaler

Here are a few pics from a Bahia Honda Keys trip. Never fished from a kayak before, but I could get used to it...
