Doesn't want me watching anything on tv that involves other dogs. Doesn't want to ride in the car. Doesn't want to go jogging with me. Just wants belly rubs. Oh, and she likes to stare at me. She's a real project. I'm pretty sure she was abused as a pup before I got her. Getting her past the timidity has been work. She is the smartest dog I have ever had. Scary smart. Smarter-than-me smart. That and she sticks to me like glue. Very focused on everything I do. Next up is agility training. She won't like it by I gotta get her out of the house before I go stir crazy.
Too funny!! Hang in there. My brother and sister 'n' law have a rescued border collie, that would run and hide under the bed whenever ANYONE came into the house. It's clear he was abused. He would constantly look up as if afraid of something. Our guess he was abused by having things thrown at him from a second floor, because he was only calm while hiding under the bed. It's sad how people treat an animal that only wants to love them. I once knocked a guy out who was kicking a dog while holding him on the leash so the dog couldn't get away. I grabbed him by his shirt pulled it over his head and beat the $#@& out of him. All the while, I kept saying..."How does it feel?!" That was in my younger, hell raising days. Can't say, I wouldn't still do the same thing if I saw it today, though. My wife has had a calming effect on me, but I go off when I see animal abuse.

I want to clarify my previous post. For the sake of brevity, I left out an important part of the incident. I told the guy to stop kicking his dog. He said to me, "How 'bout you take his place?" He pushed his forearm in my chest. From there, it turned out not to be one of his better days. Didn't want you fine jeepers to think wrong of me. I was defending a helpless animal from one of the biggest jerks I've ever seen.

Chase the American Bulldog has passed away, but she passed on alot of her traits and duties to Levi before she died. Chase was the protector and guardian. Labs aren't know for having that personality, but Levi has now become the guardian. It's a little bit funny. Who said dogs don't communicate with each other?
How is Levi's ACL healing up? I hope it's going well.

My mom has a Border Collie, she's had Australian Shepherds over the years and then decided to get a Border Collie.

She doesn't have cattle anymore and Tilly, her current Collie needed a job so she herds the chickens. Lol, every night she herds them into the coupe and every morning she herds them out into the pasture.

She has a trench dug around the outskirts of the stables from, "checking her horse." If you tell her to check the horse she bolts down and circles the stables and then comes back to you and barks.

They are crazy dogs and must have a job!

My first yellow lab was a rescue, my brother, "rescued" him from a guy on a job site. He had seen this truck parked in the sun with an obviously starving yellow lab in the back.

The dog was tied with a collar made of bailing wire, the owner approached and after an exchange of words my brother took the dog. My brother was not a guy you wanted to mess with.

Of course he calls me and tells me I have to take him since he lived in a apartment, haha.

Steve did find out his name was Buddy and he was 3, we had him until he was 14. He lived for our weekend camping/boating trips. If he saw the camper backed up to the garage he would run full blast and jump inside and you were not getting that dog out of there.

He was a big dog, at his healthiest he weighed 94lbs. He would float on the raft with my daughter and insisted on sleeping with her on a twin bed He loved boat rides and putting his head in your lap, the most loving and loyal dog I've ever owned.

He died in my arms on the back lawn of old age. It broke my heart, but honestly the best way for a pet to pass, peacefully and with his human telling him it was okay and holding him.

I think Buddy sent me Leo, they have the same soul

Levi's doing great. Thanks for asking. He's in week 4 of rehab, and still sporting that bad haircut. I call him "Friar Tuck" because he has this big bald spot on his back where they injected the epidural. He's not too happy about having his walks shortened, or having to be on a leash in the back yard. We've got a big back yard, and he'll take off and run like a crazy dog, because he thinks it's funny. He's still walking with a noticeable limp, but his spirits are high. Wants to play, but we can't let him yet. We have to put the sling under his belly to help him up the stairs, even though he's snuck up and down on his own a couple of times. He's too smart and too sneaky. In two weeks we go back for his 6-week follow up with the surgeon.

Buddy was extremely lucky that your brother found him, and that he then was able to share his life with you. Dogs are truly a blessing to humans. They have one primary goal in life; to please their human....... and in Levi's case, eat everything he can.

You're right. Buddy did get to go in the best possible way, comforted by his human.

Great looking pup! I wish mine loved the Jeep; she gets so anxious and drools buckets everytime, even on 10-min drives. Soon as we get close to the Jeep, she's putting on the brakes. And it's not nausea or car sick, just straight up severe anxiety. She's 10 months old, and I've been taking her in the Jeep since I got her at 3 months; I've tried everything from letting her spend time in the Jeep w/o going anywhere, putting her in her bed on the seat, driving with window open, front seat and back seat, inside her crate (which she loves). No idea what to do.

Thanks. He was terrified at first. Probably because I took him with me to the car wash with the soft top on. It's a bit noisy. He is much more comfortable with the top off since he gets to stick his nose in the air.
I'm sure your puppy will grow out of her anxiety eventually. Have you tried to associate the Jeep with good things like toys, treats, etc?
My dog got so much better with a lot of things after he hit a year and a half.
