Worst day your Jeep ever had

I'll start this off with a little story about my 1999. I loved this Jeep. It was the first Jeep I had that I didn't have to tow home and assemble from parts. Anyway, it was memorial day 2006. To bad I had to work, it was a beautiful day and the sun was shining. We just finished the memorial day service up town and I get dispatched to my house for a 10-70(fire). Soooo....
This is what happens when you ask your 16 year old son to cut the grass and take out the trash. Jeep was moved into back yard the night before so it would be safe from flying rocks when mower was used by driveway. Hmmmm, son thought......I'll burn the cardboard instead of bringing it to the alley. Wooooosh! Flash fire, he has no hair on his legs now. Gas can, which wife just filled with $13.00 in gas for yard cutting, bursts into flames.... Son panics and tosses can away....... under my Jeep. To make things worse I was on duty and was dispatched to my own house. I arrived before the Fire Department and ran to the back yard to see my fully involved prized possession turning into an inferno. Quick note when dealing with an insurance company, don't keep maintenance records in glove box. This makes proving your mileage a bit tougher. - Dave

Thanks............. okay is relative...collar bone broken multiple pieces by the seat belt, surgery last Fri...as one fellow Jeeper put it, "better a broken collar bone than a marble in a paint can"!!

The silver was 63 days old with < 2500 miles.

I get a 2 month vacation...at least.

People always say how "unstable" and "not safe" Jeeps are and I look at pics like yours and mine and many others I have seen on here and think what if I had been in an average "car" Honda civic, Toyota camry, Ford focus, Chevy Malibu, Chrysler Sebring...IMO the results not the same......

Glad you guys doing okay.

My worst day in a jeep was similar to another story on here. Big puddle. Middle of July, 95 degrees out and we came across a spring fed mud hole that is a local legend for destroying rigs. It was the middle of summer so it was only 2.5-3 feet deep. My Nephew tried it and made it farther than I thought he would.

So, having better tires and a locker I figured I would give it a shot. I didnt know part of my air cleaner had disappeared and my intake ended up working like a shop vac sucking about 2 quarts of water into the engine. Also swamped the tranny and of course front and rear end...

I realized I had taken on water, shut it off and called my cousin to bring his tow bar and drag me home. So while waiting 3 hours for him to get there my nephew kept playing in the hole hitting it harder and harder against my advice and ended up getting water in his engine as well... Mine actually survived internally. But, Ive gradually lost every fricken sensor including the o2 which caused it to run lean and cracked my header and took out the head gasket at least maybe warped the head or block. My nephew ran the bearings out of his. I told him to shut it off and he could use my triple A to get it home. Oh no he didnt have that much water in his... Dumb ass...
