Yeah that's what I thought the hills down south and the dunes up north. It'd be nice. Its my first jeep and I would love to put it through its paces.

Been to Haspin Acre and The Badlands years ago with my old Jeep. Going to Red Bird this weekend. Any other places near central Indiana? Anderson area or close by?

Does Oxford, oh still have that old style ice cream shop down town? I haven't been there since I was a kid. That's a long time ago!

If you just looking for something close to Indy to get muddy for free try Hamilton Town Center. Its by Fishers off of I-69. I lived there for 12 years and that was always the main spot we would go. There is a big hill to climb (last time i was there about a year ago) A few mud pits of diff lengths and sizes and some mud trails through the woods. The spot is just right behind the Town Center.

Went to Redbird Saturday morning. Man what a drive! But it was well worth it. Stuck to the easy trails because I was by myself. Had a blast taking my Jeep out for the first time. It was a lot more muddy than I expected and trail 14 was washed out in one spot. Later talked to Kenny at redbird station (great guy and offers a great place to camp out) he said they might be closing 14 or re-routing it do to an underground spring creating a sink hole. Yeah, I found it! A few downed trees and some digging and made it out without help. Can't wait to go back in a month or so!

Redbird gets a bit rough when the trails are wet.

I'd like to get together with a few others and meet for a day at Redbird. It's better with other folks.

I've been thinking of setting up a poker run around Terre Haute. Anyone have some thoughts on this? Small fee, prizes, food?

The Hamilton County Sheriff will give you a hefty fine if they catch you back there. If it's private property don't wheel there. You give all of the 4 wheelers a bad name when you destroy private property.
*Don't promote ILLEGAL wheeling*

Badlands, Redbird, Haspin (be careful there) and Interlake down south are your best bets.

That's not private property. Or at least not when i lived there. It was a dump zone for the construction of the mall. Plus all that land is eventually going to be leveled for construction. I worked for Parks and Recreation, me and a few others who worked for the town were always back there. Also none of the officers I spoke with had a problem with wheeling there.

Exclamation Redbird needs help!

Hey all, I was just down at Redbird a few weeks ago and spent some time talking to the gentleman that runs the "Redbird Station" parts and camping across from the maintenance gate. Really nice guy, and a pretty decent place to camp out. But anyway, he is part of the Redbird Foundation that is responsible for the upkeep of the trails at the park (the state doesn't do it), he informed me that the lady in charge of Redbird and Interlake is looking to close the trails at Redbird and making it a hiking and bird watching sancturary. What that means is there will no longer be motorized vehicles of any type allowed on the trails. This was my first time there, and believe me when I say it is one of the better places in Indiana to go wheel. I've been to both Attica and Laurel, granted its been several years, but they don't really compare. We all need to go to their web site and offer as much help and support as possible to help keep the trails open!
I can't recall the site address off the top of my head, just google redbird state recreation area and redbird foundation, you'll find a link to it somewhere!
