I have the same problem living in central NJ. There are places to go around Batsto Village (exit 52 on the Garden State Porkway), but I haven't found anything else farther north (I am sure there are places in northwest Jerz). If you find anything in central or northern NJ, feel free to share.

Exit 52 off the parkway for Batsto. Alot of the roads have actual street names, but are unpaved and muddy. Nothing too intense, but fun. I know there are places in Wharton State Park, but I have not yet been.

Take a look at Stokes State Forest area off route 206. There are some nice dirt trails, nothing hard but real nice area.

Try our New Jersey section
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f93/
Also, there are many people on here who do not post locations, because there some followers on here who close those exact locations. I would suggest PMing local members and asking them directly, because most will not post a trail (especially ones they really like).

RatherBNMexico is absolutely correct. Those of us who live down in the Pine Barrens know tons of places that you can go wheeling and get her dirty, but they're kept from the public simply because of individuals who like to come tear up areas of the Pine Barrens (See the Quarter Mile) and give us a bad name. A majority of people I know (and I hope this includes you) use the land to have some fun and test the limits while getting a new muddy paint. But there are a lot of others who dump and litter, wreck ecological habitats by going off the trails, and cause a general nuisance to surround communities.

I'll give you the obvious Attison Lake and Wharton to check out. There are trail maps available at the ranger station, just stay on the trails and you'll be fine. Other then that, stay involved at places like WF or JeepForum. Get involved with the NJJA and you'll get trail rides and trail information.
