Off roading near Pittsburgh, PA

My jeeps only a month old and I've been dying to take it off roading. I live in the south hills just outside of Pgh and don't know of any good places to go. I have heard of a few places out in south park and even Beatle park in Elizabeth. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hey there jkwrangler, I just stumbled on this forum while looking for places to get dirty around Pitt. I don't own a jeep but I do live in Whitehall near Baldwin High. Hit me up if you don't mind a GMC tagging along.

I actually live right behind Baldwin high as well. Behind the football field. I'm currently at school at duq and don't have much time to get muddy now. But I'll let you know if I decide to go. No problem with a gmc tagging along!

Im also in s hills. Ive been looking for awhile now. Most places online are for atvs and bikes around here. Heard w. va has some good spots around Weirton and morgantown. Ill look more in depth and post all findings. If i find any decent trails we should get a group together and head out.

Tjkid8, I live in Beaver County and am also looking for fellow off road enthusiasts and Jeepers. I have an 05 TJ, buying 31s for Christmas...lift in late Spring. Definitely into setting up some group activities.

Hi all, I happen to stumble upon this thread and thought I'd let you guys know where I've been going for years. There is a large network of trails in South Connellsville that includes some pretty serious mud bogs, creek crossings, steep hills, etc. Its so massive that I've probably only explored a small fraction of the place.

Another interesting thing to mention about this place is that one of the trails will take you to a very large underground limestone mine that you used to be able to drive into. The mine is now mostly sealed up but you can still climb a hill (by foot) and walk into it. The place is called Casparis if you're interested in learning more about it.

I was up there about 3 weeks ago with a few buddies and spent 4 hours driving through the trails in the woods. The place isn't too hard to find but if you don't know where you are looking, it could be a challenge. I'd be happy to get a group together and meet up and go there sometime. I've been going through mostly solo for years and always take a risk of getting stuck. It would be great to go with a large group.

I should also mention that since its in the mountains, they usually get more snow than around the city so that adds to the fun. From downtown it would take about 1.5 hours to get there.

Let me know... I'm thinking about going there again this weekend.

Tom
