Shrewsbury MA offroad trail

There's a trail that's behind the Herbert's candy mansion in shrewsbury MA and it's decent for being in middlesex county. The issue I'm having is does anyone know if this trail is legal as I found no "no trespassing" signs on either end. Those familiar with the area and trail please chime in. I would assume the shrewsbury section under the power lines would be considered "nt" but besides that it seems like it would be legal out there.

So many views but no responses leads me to believe no one knows much about this little chunk of area

I didn't even know there was trail back there! I'm assuming the trail starts off of Rt. 20, but where does it end? I'm definitely going to check it out. The way I look at it is this.... If there's no " No Trespassing" signs or gates, then I'm going to go ahead an tread lightly. If I see anyone, ( land owners, Nat. Grid, etc.) lll stop and discuss trail use. If its a problem w/ them, I'll politely apologize and move on my way.

It is off Rt20 I believe if you're looking directly at the Herbert's mansion it's the first road on the left hand side of the building then less than a 1/4 mile down that road on the right is a opening and the power lines.

Very interesting. looks like powerline service roads, I'll have to check it out next time I'm over there. I've been to Heberts a dozen times but never down that "new" road they put in...

New England Power Co owns the first ~30 feet of it
Town of Shrewsbury owns the next ~1500 ft of it
" + theTitle + "
"Rushwan brothers inc" a trading corp with an address listed in Worcester owns the rest, all the way down to the train tracks / Rt 30. Looks like the majority of the "fun" parts are on their land, which is zoned Industrial development, best I can tell from a few online GIS resources. I'd be careful and follow any signage present.

Thanks for the update and as far as signage goes there are only "do not climb power lines" and a mbta "no trespassing" sign for the actual tracks.

We rode the trail today - it was a blast! Good size for this area, took us about 30-40 mins end to end. Some large puddles at one end, no river crossings, one semi-steep rocky hill, overall mostly a dirt trail with its share of rocks. We had fun, definitely recommend checking it out. Thanks for the initial heads-up on the trail gorilla

there might be there seemed to be a lot of "party areas" out there with left over 30 rack boxes ect. I definitely wouldn't be leaving my vehicle out there unattended and have been very careful.

That's near the old drive inn property off of 20. Better off going to Upton or Tuffs. Nobody say's a thing at Tufts. Not the largest area but still fun to hangout. Huge mud puddle or small pond that everyone goes through.
