2.5 inch shackle lift ?'s

How much does a 2.5 inch shackle lift actually lift. I have read that any shackle lift is half the lift it states. Does this mean it would lift 1.25 inches? do I need to worry about the pinion with this lift? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I had a 2.5'' barnes shackle lift on my 89 with no issues. I got about 2" of actual lift. I had an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer but I didn't have the aggressive tires so i don't know if the OME or the lack very aggressive tires contributed to the lack of any death wobble. Jeep looked good and functioned great as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. Some people say a shackle lift bends springs, but this was what I wanted to hear. Someone that has done with great functionality. Thanks.

Sort of gives the fang look as the shackle it self is what almost a foot long.

I'm actually only wanting the lift to be an inch and a half. The shackles I'm looking at are 6.5 in length center to center. The stock in 4. Just wondering if the slight difference would cause problems.

The only problems I have is flat leaf springs and a very bumpy ride. But other than that there are no major problems with the suspension or steering. I personally hate the look of it but right now I don't have the $$ to get a real lift. Hopefully I will soon be getting the rc 4inch lift and loosing those ridiculous shackles.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I got the shackles for a great deal so I'm gonna put them on until I can afford a real lift kit. Thanks!
