Hello everyone! I was looking on Craigslist and I found an engine from a wrecked GC with the 4.0l, and was interested in it because my motor isn't exactly up-to-par(208,600 miles). I would love to just swap in a replacement for now so I can work on stroking my tired engine over the winter. I'm not an ace mechanic by any means but I do know how to turn a wrench. Just weighing my options. From what I know this 2000 GC has the 4.0, 4x4, w/ 58,000 miles on the clock...my TJ has the 4.0l, Ax-15, np231j, and 4.88 gears with 35x12.50r15 tires. Do you all think this is a straight forward swap(out and in). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

Not positive on the drivetrain hook up/mounts, but I've got a TJ engine in my WJ (Grand Cherokee). No issues what so ever.

The issue you will run into and is easy to fix is that the 2000GC motor is distributerless ignition. Your Jeep is NOT.

You will have to rip all the coil pack and all off and install your stuff and dizzy.

And keep your manual. Unless you got the computer and all wiring for the auto trans.
