60 degree v6?

I have an 89 yj in excellent shape (no rust!!) except no motor or tranny in it. Bought a 4.0 from a 95 cherokee but the tranny was a 2wd auto, bought a 5 speed with transfer case (was supposed to be from 4.0 but the bell housing doesn't match), but it is the ax5. I've been having a hard time finding a tranny w/ transfer case for the 4.0 that doesn't cost as much as I paid for the entire rig. After doing some research I see that the ax5 was used behind the chevy 60 degree v6. Will this work with my YJ? I know it isn't as great as a 4.0 with a ax15, but I'd like to get it rolling until I can do what I really want & put a 350 in it & change everything out.

I have $2400 tied up in it as of now. The YJ has all new seats, hard top, soft top, 2 sets of doors, new 31" tires, & the inside of the tub has been rhino lined now. I have a 4.0 motor with auto tranny, & a recently rebuilt ax5 with transfer case & drive shafts. What should I do?

X2. AA has what you need. They also have an adapter for ax5 to chevy small block. The ax5 is a weak trans though.

But it's a peppy 4 cylinder!

Thanks. I found 60 degree v6 but have to find a wiring harness for it as well. I'm wondering if putting a 2.5 back in it isn't the best idea for now until I can afford to do what I really want to with it. But I haven't been able to find any of those at all

Thanks!!! May have found 1 only 40 minutes away, but before I go pick up another motor. Was the 2.5 the same in the wrangler & Cherokee? Just don't want another motor sitting around that I cant use & I'm new to this stuff

After searching some more I confident the transmission is a ba10/5. Will it work with the 4.0 out of a 95 Cherokee? 1 website said it was used strictly on the 4.0 i6, but another says it was used on the 2.5 as well
