at the moment... stock. going to do an 8.8 soon, then 4.88s, and hopefully 35s, but that may be pushing it

but on with todays updates... we welded the lower part onto the main part, and then cut circular tubes, 1" inside of a 1.25", welded together, then fitted onto the lower section... then we looked around his farm until we found the tire fitted section thing (not to car savy so i dont know the correct name) and we plasma cutted the needed part off of said piece. the plan is to weld that to a piece of square tubing, then weld that piece of square tubing to another piece... then weld that to the bumper... dont worry, it makes sense in my head.

pics as promised...

heres the tools and such...

and heres the thing we cut...

and heres my buddy cutting it...

heres the plasma cutter...

heres him cutting it...

here is the bumper on the jeep...

and heres the circular tubing for recovery

as of now it rattles, so im thinking i will get some nylon spacers for the hinges, but im not sure yet. also i may try to make some sort of channel on the back, and have it locked on in a third place. if all goes well i will get most of this complete tomorrow assuming my buddy can work, and then we will probably begin the stinger

i have a 4cyl so speed is a fight either way. but if i get the money i will regear, if not it doesn't bother me to much. to answer, you dont NEED a regear. its more of an unnecessary luxury. like a hardtop in the winter sorta thing ya know?

yeah i've been realizing that more and more, at first i thought that if i lifted i'd need to regear, now i'm leaning away from it. expecially with limited funds its not an option. as you said its an "unnecessary luxury"

Hey man, loving the jeep, just picked up an 89' YJ and am loving the mesh cover you have over the back of yours with the top down, where is that from? And do you know if they make one for an 89' with the sport bars? (the cage that angles down right off the cab and does not go back a few feet the angle down like yours)

where do you live? where im at i can pick up a family roll cage for like $100 so that would probably be the easiest route... unless your handy with metal, and which case you can make some sort of frame with like dimensions to the family cage. probably what i would do in your situation if i couldnt find any family cages

okay, so today i got my jeep back from the mechanic, and the reason it was there in the first place was an unidentified rattle, and sloshy brakes. turns out all my motor and tranny mounts are fried, and the rear brake cylinders have holes so i have to replace all that next weekend when the parts come. on the bright side, im putting the tj flares on tomorrow!
