i wasn'tquite sure how i was going to make the mounts for the cans so what i did was make a list of features i wanted such as high edges, lock-ability, tight construction to reduce rattle, ect. in addition to making some pretty cool drain holes... but we aren't done with those so you will have to wait to see that

here is the beginning where we measured everything up

then we began to cut it with the plasma cutter... because metal cutting saws are overrated

then piecing it together after we cut all of the templates...

this is what i decided to go with. im going to weld screws on the sides so it can be secured with straps like the blue ones on the bottom, except they will be red not blue

also i wasn't working yesterday so i met up with two friends and we went and explored this random power line logging trail. along the ride i heard a knocking sound, and im not sure if i mentioned it or not, but i had been hearing it ever since i changed my motor mounts for the second time. we all went back to my house to brainstorm and i found out since we did the new mounts it lifted the motor up about three inches on the right seeing as the right side mount was put on upside down. but anyways since we did the the muffler hit the underside of the jeep every time i hit a bump making an annoying sound. my solution was putting a piece of metal in between the muffler and the body protection plate. since then i haven't had any problems

this is us. im on 33s, the red one is on 31s, and the last one (not sure what to call the color) is on 35s.

Got a question for ya... How much of a lift does the jeep in your picture that sits on 35s have? And is it an unlimited?

I'm trying to figure out how much of a lift to get on my TJ without it being too tall. At the moment I'm considering a 4.25" lift on 33s. My friend has a 5" lift on 35s on his '05 Sport Unlimited but the unlimiteds can have a much larger lift IMO because they have a longer body so it is more proportional when they are higher up. I don't have an unlimited, so I'm trying to get a better idea of the lift possibilities for my 2000 Sahara. Much appreciated.

its not an unlimited, its a 2003 sport i believe, but it has been given rubi axles, an all sorts of other rubi parts so its basically a rubicon... he has a 6in suspension lift, 1 inch body with the bushwacker flares and 35s.

in these pictures the tires were worn so they were alot smaller. and when i say warn i mean like a half inch from being flat. he has new tires now and its higher. in person it looks really good, but i would think you would be okay with just 4-5 inches. he has 7 incase he decides he wants 37s

took it to some power lines with the red jeep, and the color-im-not-sure-of jeep. got stuck once, and broke a winch but still had fun

Thanks, I think it's coming nicely. It's just hard to find time with work. I'm going to order a winch with my next pay check, and then start looking for an 8.8

Thanks for the info. I just don't want to get a lift/tire combo that will make the jeep look like a tower. I think the 4.25" lift and 33s will still be proportional and give me nice flex room

thats probably more than enough... if you go 35s though his lift with the stinger and spare tire carrier combo looks killer.

Trust me I would love to go 35s lol but my budget isn't going to allow it. I'm lucky I found some good deals on lifts and I have a bunch of buddies that have everything I need to install the lift myself (with a lot of their help of course) instead of paying for installation.
