Accelerator pedal

Hi to all. I am in the process of switching out my worn out foot pedal pads on my 2000 TJ. I replaced the clutch and brake pads with new Drake Offroad metal. My question is how to get the rubber (?) pedal off the accelerator pedal? It is not a pad, it is the actual pedal. I can see that it has a metal or some type of pin that goes thru the bottom that allows it to swivel. How do I get that out to replace with new one? I don't want to break it as I need to use it on the replacement. It is very hard to access. Thanks in advance!
