Stopped by the local AirGas yesterday, traded tanks also bought a ten pound cylinder of acetylene to use with the little rosebud I have....all those damn seized bolts can kiss their asses goodbye! Wife works all weekend.....me time= jeep time. Just as soon as I cut the grass.

Actually, I AM looking forward to this. Its Hobo's maiden lawn wrangle.

Sat has come and gone.

Well semiproductive day, albeit not on the CJ10. Didn't get the grass cut either

Hobo didn't work as good as I hoped. back to the drawing board on that one

Then the REST of the day went to Jerrys tractor, we are a bit behind getting the ground hared and furrowed. Tractor hasnt had the attention it needs in awhile. Just a patch to get the job done. We all have done it, I think, the problem is the temporary repairs never got undone. We replaced hoses, hydraulic lines, fluids, belts, batteries, switches, draglinks, cotterpins, lockrings, zerk fittings, lugs, lugnuts, muffler, bulbs, friction disks, hitchpins, filters, terminals, slack adjuster, and hub retainers. I reseated every hare disk and got to practice welding on cast
Thomas then. cut about 2 acres of Jerry garden, tomorrow Ill get to mine.

I did however rebuild the pressure washer, the last thing I did tonight was blast close to 100 lbs worth of grease and mud and who knows what else:nonono:

^Off the J10 frame*

Jerry called me at 730 this morning. Said he wanted to return the favor of all the time I spent on his tractor. He stayed up all night, Im slightly concerned about what he did. We(I) celebrated St Patty a bit ... Im green today guess I'll drag myself out of bed to see how Irish he got.

In case you haven't noticed, I have ADD,BAD!

Spent the day helping Thomas on his project. We then worked on the CJ10, Grinding the factory weld spatter off(it is ugly). I got a working plan together for the CJ10 rear corners. As in how they will mate to the J10 bed floor. Then we cut the rest of the CJ7 tub up.

I tried a factory GMC rim today...that dog don't hunt.

With 5 1/2" backspace I had less the 3/8" between the back edge of the rim and leafspring. Back to the drawing board, yet again

Back to it again.....

So after a good bit of distraction, I was able to devote a few hours of this evening to the Jeep.

I stripped the remaining wire harness off. Removed the fuel and brake lines. Unbolted the tranny member.(I plan on installing a belly skid from the spring mounts to the rear output shaft of the t-case. )

I then turned my attention to the rear crossmember.......
The factory member is riveted on with 8 1/2" slugs AND welded
I mean, yeah it was meant to stay, it took some doing with the limited tools I have access to, but I got that cat skinned anyhow.

I welded on a 4x6x5/16, overkill? Maybe. But it ought to hold up really well for the back bumper/receiver hitch I have planned

Tomorrow Im going to fab the location for the gas tank. I have a 21gal Poly tank for a Wrangler I got for Hobo(intank fuel pump) going to drop the tank in Hobo (19gal I believe{no intank pump}) and use it on this project.

For those that dont know, Hobo is my Heep project.

Rear Hitch and Gas tank!

Spent a few hours on the Jeep today.

Finished the prep on the rear crossmember and got all the Receivers welded in.
If it will hold me and my spare tire , it should have no issue holding the spare for the Jeep.

I repurposed the factory cross member to hang the gas tank from, I used the CJ7 poly tank and skidplate. I have it tucked as far as possible up in the frame rails so as the bed floor wont interfere and as far forward to the rear axle as I felt comfortable.(Keeping in mind a future 1ton swap when need be) With 30s at stock ride height I am pleased with the result, short of a in-cab fuel cell, I don't believe I could do much better.

Next I plan on bridging/bracing the rear crossmember to the back gastank member, just cause.

Its supposed to rain tomorrow, maybe Ill get to work on the Z shackles for the rear springs

Sunday Funday

Got the rear Z shackle mounts melted in ended up with 5" of lift over stock height. That I am pleased with. Even more pleased with how the gas tank is almost out of harms way.

Started on the front end, using 3" square tube to clear the steering box on the drivers side for the 1/4 Elliptical , and have some bent bars for a farm implement I will use to make some boomerang shackles that will give me the other 2" I need for a level ride.

Only had a few hours to wrench today....

1. This square tube is a segment from a PTO shaft for a finish mower
2. 5/16" thick.....These were originally for a allison trans for a bus mount.....IDK where they came from
3. Approximate location of spring eye front to back, obviously it will be considerably lower when I mount the 3x3 tube under the frame rail.
4.I will tack weld at this point once I get everything together to prevent side to side flex.

I havent been able to do much the past few days on the Jeep, sick kid and all...She was feeling better today and we did a little rumaging through "Dad's JUNK". Found my Black Kentrol windsheild hinges! Knew I had them but with a few years of cobwebs between the ears I had forgotten where the hell I stashed them. Now on to do a little fab. I have the other 1/4 elleptical spring and shackle to make........maybe I can get one or the other knocked out this evening.

This weekend was spent with the wife. On Sat we dropped the top on her JK, loaded up some chairs and the cooler, met with a group of friends at the lake, and proceeded to imbibe ample ice cold adult beverages. Sunday we took the doors off went for a scenic cruise, and was spent with family, enjoyng each others company whilst consuming copious amounts of vittles.

This evening I resumed cleaning the frame on my project. Tried using my media blaster, however. I believe I am using the wrong size abrasive. 20/40? To big??? I hung it up and just grabbed a 4" grinder ....

An 18 year old kid stopped by..."Hey, I just moved here a few weeks ago, I've seen you guys out here at night and just really want to know what you're working on?" One thing led to another, and he ended up challenging me to a grind off....(I felt a bit like Tom Sawyer as he was working harder then I was, on MY frame, but I manged to overcome my qualms) The kid knows how to make friends, he can call me one anytime. I did tell him I would teach(assist) how to replace his trucks starter, tomorrow. As I've said before, you scratch my back...........
