The Kid

Got home from work today about 230. I noticed some movement at the shop but didn't pay much attention to it...headed up to the house and jumped in some wrenchin clothes. Upon returning to the shop I saw the kid, nothiing but ass and elbows wirewheeling the frame, I startled him when I spoke. His response? "Ii really hope you don't mind but I was bored at the house so I walked over here(about 3 miles!!!) And figured I would try to be productive, I know you wanted to paint this toniight, so I thought I would finish what you were doing last night." Mind? About as much as if somebody handed me a Benjamin!

We then headed to his parents and drug his truck to the shop, he's a quick learner. We had the starter of and replaced the seliniod with one I had in less than an hour.

When that truck crunk you'd have swore he had a date leaned over in his lap he was grinnng so big

"Hell yeah, NO MORE WALKING!"

And now off to watch my daughters softball game.......

I Flopped my Jeep, ON PURPOSE!

Red Oxide Primer IS the SHIZNIT! I like it anyhow, High build, quick dry, does not sag(within reason), can be block sanded, wetsanded, its nice.

Depending on my daughters schedule, I intend to shoot some of that fancy, high gloss, black epoxy paint tomorrow evening.

Well, I started a new project(day job) on Thursday morning....really whipping my tail. Haven't had the time or inclination to tackle anything when I finally drag home, spent the weekend with the family. I dd order a complete gasket kit for the 360 sat morning. Well, I asked my brotherinlaw to, he has some kind of hookup. Maybe, I will get around to epoxy coating the frame this week......

Just couldn't stand it any longer....

Well its been damn near two weeks since I primed the frame, plenty long enough for it to cure thoroughly. I have been draggin ass by the time I get home, working 10-14hr days will do that to you and I sure ain't the 20 year old I used to be......

So I made myself a small goal for the evening, I mixed a quart of the twopart black paint and grabbed myself a brush(rather windy and I haven't finished the paint booth yet, damn too many projects). I tried using a roller but it just didnt want to cooperate. I laid it down pretty thick, 10-12 mils in most spots. An additional pint would probably wrap it up but I think i'll mix another quart and spray it, as most us know how many nooks and crannies a blasted Jeep frame can claim.

I took a few pictures, but quite frankly, I am to tired to screw with downloading them from the phone to the pc. So if you really care what it looks like, download the pics of the primered frame and edit them in a photoshop program. Just change the red oxide primer to a high gloss black. Then again you could just wait for me to drop it in low and dig out of this rut Ive been in. Good Lord willing, it wont be two weeks long again.

So I mixed up 24 oz of paint tonight(pint and a half) and sprayed the frame once over, taking care to hit the hard to reach spots well. Pics to follow.

Thanks 95, it feels great to be constructive finally, although the destruction is fun in its own right.

Got home at 7 tonight. Moved the frame out of the way, drug the CJ7 half tub to the work area on a plastic pallet. I picked up a couple cans of duplicolor engine enamel (RED) waiting on the gasket kit so I dont have to leave the motor broke down tooooo long. Wire wheeled some of the worst skin cancer on the cowl and fire wall and marked out where. I will cut the floor pans for replacement.....totally forgot about picking up gas for the welder today.

After washing the tub last week and discovering just how bad the floor pans are, I have seen worse, however a cheese grater is a good comparative. I decided to order a set of replacement pans from quadratech. It seems only logical to spend 50 something bucks rather then spend 50 something hours on fabng them..........wish I could have afforded to order them before today...now off to work it go.

Conundrum

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that the Boneyard project will be shelved for an undetermined period. I have been awarded a couple substantial projects, as I have been short on work in this economically turbulent time, I have been working 12 to16 hour days. 7 days a week. The upside to this is no Mondays, but rather a string of Wednesdays. Well, I call it the upside. Even better, $$$$$$. Makes the world go round, mine anyhow. I plan on being able to pull it back out of storage in amonth, assuming that the work steadies out, however when I do get back to it, Ill have some greenbacks to plays with.........

Until......

Racing from stop to stop.....

You know you've done it...pull up to a light, it turns, green means go, so you go. I mean hammer down, overly excessive. Only to slam on your brakes so you dont run the red(cause Johnny Law is EVERYWHERE).

Yep, thats how I feel my project is going.

Motor mounts came Thursday so I cleared my Saturday and wrestled this pig back together.

Rainy day at the Shadetree.

Somedays you have grand plans to wrench your heart out, but then it starts with the condensation.....and doesn't stop. It was a sad day at our little Shadetree grove. Black walnut trees, pecan trees, and one sole peach tree that took root from a pit, oh so many years ago, growing among the forgotten scrap. That little peach tree would bare the smallest sweetest fruit, we faught the birds for it's prizes every spring and early summer. We shall forever rue the day the rain let our poor friend uproot itself. Our shop yard now looks empty without that peach tree sitting right in the way.

As we gathered and watched her sink slowly from the shelter of the toolshed, I found a scrap of paper and Sharpie and sketched abit....
