best headers for a v8 swap

Im putting in 4.8 in a 97 tj. What headers would be recommended? I haven't tried the oem truck ones yet but it looks like they will hit mounts. I have looked at the center dump ones and they look like they would hit also.

I have never even laid my eyes on a 4.8L, but "back in the day" we used to use the block hugger style shorty headers for SBC into CJ swaps. I do not know if those are available for a 4.8 or not. If not you can get the idea of the type and look for something similar.

Thanks, I'll post what I find. Im using a 4.8 out of a 2008 siliverdo btw. I like the idea of crome or stainless steel, but I've read the ceramic coated ones will reduce temps.

The center dumps look cool but I can't find anyone that has put them in a TJ? and they look like they are pointed square at the motor mount.?

Im actually going to try to set the engine wth the stock manifolds just to see whats up and how bad they hit. Even though eveyone says it will not work with stock. Most say they will hit the firewall, IDK we will see.

I dunno man, but this might be one of those instances where a body lift would be valid. This would make heat issues at the trans tunnel, but you could wrap the manifolds with that race tape.

I have the body off now for the build; so I had already thought about a 1.5 or 2 inch body lift. and maybe 1 inch transfer case drop.

Maybe the ones that could not get the oem manifolds to work were not lifting. idk

Block hugging shortys will work thats what novak reccommends and sells and whats on the 350 thats going in my yj. Theyre reall tight give plenty of airflow looks like theyll fit with ease.
