best motor swap that wont cost a fortune?

I just got my bonus from ole uncle sam... gonna spend that on a new motor ( to upgrade my 4 banger).

What motor do you all think will be the best?....
-8 cyl ( and what motor that will swap in easy)
Or just the 4.0 straight 6

I understand I will have to get a new tranny what model will work with the 6 or 8 cyl?

Thanks for the info in advance. : )

I like my magnum 5.9 . If you can do your own work you should be able to do this swap for less then a grand out of pocket after selling the old 4 banger and trans. I used a 46re out of a 99 ram, but the easiest trans to use is a 44re or 46re out of a zj with a v8 due to the starter being on the passenger side. The ax15 is another good trans but you will need a bell housing from a v6 dakota. I think the auto is the best for strength and offroad myself!

After selling my 4.0 I had about $600.00 into my swap.

X2 cant do a cheaper build then that! The shop I use has built 4 bangers over 1000hp, dont last a full season but you can boost the hell out of what you have without killing it.

with 6-8lbs of boost you should see at least an extra 50hp, mount an IC and you may be able to even up to 10-12lbs of boost before you blow the motor. besides theres nothing cooler than hearing that turbo spool up like a jet.

i am worried about a turbo and IC mounted due to going mudding, plus with boost the higher rpms more power, i need more torque at lowspeeds aswell
