Bullcrews build jku

Figured its easier to do a thread and document the progress.

It was either a jku or a Gen 3 4runner linked and HIGHLY MODIFIED that was amazing just not a jeep...obviously the jeep won and cost me almost double what the yota would have which was easily as capable a rig...

2008 JKU black Sahara
Bought it in July it had 2" lift (terra flex springs and lower arms), Toyo 35s worn, adjustable track bar, quick disconnects, banks exhaust and intake...that pretty well summs it up.

So the mods started:
Front axle swap to Dana 44
-RCV 35 spline axles
-nitro gussets
-lower control arm gussets
-5:13 gears
-ARB locker
-C gussets
-Nitro aluminum diff cover
-Synergy ball joints

Rear axle
-detroit locker
-5:13 gears
(Chromoly axles going in spring)

Lift
-terraflex 4" springs
-terraflex arms all 8
-fox 2.0 shocks
-extended bumps and modified spring pockets rear

Steering
-fox 2.0 stabalizer
-synergy mount
-synergy tie rod
-synergy drag link
-high mount steering
-high mount for track bar and stabalizer shock
(Ordered psc hydro assist parts for a spring set up)

Wheels and tires
-pro comp 17" rims
-bfg 37/12.50/17 tires
(Bead locks by spring)
-spidertrax wheel spacers 1.5"

Drive train
-coast driveshaft front
-coast driveshaft rear (sitting as spare for moment)

Armor
-smittybuilt front bumper
-smittybuilt x8 winch
-smittybuilt rear bumper
-rubicon sliders for the moment
-rockhard gas tank skid
-rear terra flex diff cover
(Building side plates for rear corners after damage from lower 13)

Misc
-ARB twin compressor
-on board air plumbed to rear corners of bumper
-powertank #10 setup
-rotopax preparedness/first aid kit on back door
-2 rotopax 3gallon gas cans mounted out back
-cobra 75 cab
-orw hood struts to hold it open
-jeepswag hi lift rear mount
-jeepswag high lift accessory mount for my shovel and axe
-hid headlight conversion
-jeepswag evap relocation mount

There are a couple things I'm missing up or adding but overall it will go some NASTY spots with no issues, yes its almost been flipped sideways and over backwards already so it gets used...

Some carnage

Sweet!! This gives me so many ideas to copy

I have a few questions.

1) I'm considering the same ARB unit you have shown. Do you have any more pics of your ARB Onboard Air install or a link to the install procedure? Is the mounting and cage you have over it custom or available online?

2) I've been wondering how well that ARB unit works. Have you found that it holds up to it's claims as far as airing up speeds and air tool use?

3) I love the hi-lift/gear rack you have over the back, is that custom or available online? Do you think a soft top would go over it?

EDIT: Nm, found it http://www.jeepswag.com/jackmount/index.html

This is an incredibly awesome build. It'd be great if you had time to add some links to any other articles or sites that assisted in this build. I'm at the beginnings of my own build like that and so far have just done some lights and front bumper (Rugged Ridge XHD stubby). I'm still trying to pick a winch and will be ordering it soon.

Thanks for sharing your build. It's really bad ass!

love the ARB its quick to fill 37s. The cage I made to keep stuff off of ot of its hot and keep it from getting banged into.
I'll see if love got additional pics of it and the on board air set up.

OK so I covered my dented rear tub and did door skins on my tube doors.
My $30 panel guards, I'm too cheap at this moment with some nasty wheeling coming up to put out for the poison spyder or other corner guards. (Would love to but can't justify with other mods needed ie hydro assist, bead locks etc)

Grabbed some steel to do side armor to avoid any more damage from laying it over on the canyons and rocks. Going to weld tubes from front to back angled a little up the length of the plates and off them an inch or 2. That way it hits the rocks before the plate does as well as grabbed some aluminum for the door skins for the smittybilt tube doors.

All this to stop this lol

Did my door skins on the smittybilt tube doors, don't need to look through them they are cut so low I can see where my jeeps at on the rocks.

Plus it'll help keep a bit more junk out.

Tube sliders are on rear quarter panel armor and door skins are rhino lined and done

Sort of done Im going to mess with driver side the original damage made it look off with the recess of it and tilt.
Its pushed in and even with banging it out the panel still lays in a smidge, as well as I need to finish grind. Then I'll do the primer and paint to clean it up...probably after JV Saturday...don't want to do it twice

More questions

What side flares are you using? I don't see those listed in your build list.

I take it you're running your air lockers off of the ARB twin or do you have a dedicated smaller compressor for that? (I've heard others say you want to keep the air lockers on their own)

What is the purpose of the evap relocation? just to get it up and further out of harms way? (yes I'm a bit new to this stuff)

thanks
