Can't remove factory mirrors from mount arm

My half doors came in today so I'm using a relocation kit I bought to move the mirrors to the side of the windshield.

The problem I'm having is that I'm supposed to remove the one torq screw from under the mirror, remove the upper mirror housing from the lower arm, and then I slide the upper housing into the replacement arm.

Well, I can get the torq screw out easily enough, but I can't seem to get the upper house and lower arm seperated. I'm scared that if I pull any harder, something is gonna break.

Any suggestions?
thanks

I going to assume that this is for a JK, that being the case you have a few options as I pretty much went to town on mine. you can soak it in WD-40 turn it up side down (I took the whole assembly off) take the longest screw off your jeep which I believe to be the screw inside the cab holding the mirror on and use that and screw it in the bottom till it pops the mirror.

That did it!

After I soaked w wd40 I turned it upside down, put the long screw in just a few turns then whacked the bolt head with a mini sledge. It popped right out.

Mirror relocation completed. Now I'm having the same issue some others mentioned where you can't see the passenger mirror with the full door on.

Guess I'll need to get the mirrors with the longer arm that some people are talking about
