center console

my jeep has a center console but its an aftermarket POS. im thinking of making my own. anyone have pics of one they made? one of the things is that it needs to be totally secure cause i want to permanently mount my cb in it. i made a mount for it but dont like the location and want it in the center down lower where its easier to use.
any pics would be cool.

I have a real tall 50 caliber ammo can, (19" tall, makes for a great armrest!) that's just big enough to hold my bi-fold lug wrench. You can use any size you like, they come in many sizes.

I had my CB mounted to the front of it, but just moved it to the new overhead tubes I added to my roll cage. It worked well on the front of the ammo can, but I just liked it better where I could read the channels without looking so far away from the road.

You can just see it under the steering wheel in this pic;

Yeah it's not like the mid 1970's, when you had to solder fish hooks to your CB if you wanted to keep it!

Truth; an old friend got fed up & did that.

One day he found blood all over his front seats, but the talk box was still there!

Love it. I used super glue and razor blades on my tape deck in high school. I staggered them on the top and sides, left, right and back. Never found blood, but then, most everyone knew about my anti-theft methods, too.

This friend of mine was a nut. He had a base station CB (Teac) in his car, D104 desk mic & 200W linear amp. The fish hooks were all soldered under the front edge with the tips pointing down, & about 1/2" apart.

After the theft attempt he was really PO'ed that he had cut the barbs off. He missed the chance to get a little payback, as the thief would prolly have still been there!

The first one that was actually stolen wasn't any special rig, but he knew he had to do something to keep the base rig in there.

looking for the right material is a bitch. I finally found diamondplate sheet that is affordable but its in the shape of a used truck box. gonna have to do some cutting. BTW found truck box used on craigslist for 40.00 from a full size truck. plan is to remove fabric from old console and use that as a template for new one since it has the right fit.

Good price for a truck box! Aluminum is easy to cut!
