Cheap and easy cold air intake

Here's a cheap and easy way to get cooler intake air.
Track Racing Autoparts Store sells the air intake fittings and filter.
When I bought one they were a little over $50.
Install is quick and easy.
This product doesn't include a barrier to reduce engine heat so here's how I made my own.
I got a poster board and a sheet of aluminum at the local hardware store.
After cutting, folding and cussing awhile I had a paste board pattern for the baffle.
Made the baffle with the aluminum and trimmed the top until it didn't hit the closed hood. A flashlight helps peeking through the cracked hood.
Then take a few large paper clips and put them on the top edge, close the hood to push them down, open the hood and you can see what you need to trim.
I left about 1/2 inch space and used some door sweep rubber to extend the sides to the hood.
It isn't air tight but should help keep the air temperature down.

nicely done. Good low buck solution. Was there a noticable power boost?

I think so but it's hard to tell. The theory is sound. Cool air is denser.
