Custom winch bumper

About finished with my custom winch bumper. Gonna fab up a winch guard (bar) and weld it on. Any suggestion on coating it? Figure powder coat would be to high. Undercoating painted, rhino liner, plastic dip?

Por15 looks like the right move. My only complaint is gloss. Wonder if I can paint it flat black afterward.

Doesn't POR need a top coat? I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't UV stable. It's the end of my 12 hr shift, so take it with a grain of salt

Look at the link I posted above. It's a UV resistant paint to be used on bare metal or on top of POR.

Nice looking bumper. After a job like that I would spend a few bucks and powder coat it. POR-15 is ok for undercarriage stuff but if it is going to be in the UV light in needs a topcoating.

Other option would be the Duplicolor aerosol spray on bedliner. I have used it on inner fenders, undercarriage, skid plates and driveshafts and it actually holds up quite well and is inexpensive. If you scratch it or it faids it would be easy enough to re-coat.

Great job.

Mike.

Great job on the bumper! I recommend the POR15 as well. After that, depending on taste, you can stop by a auto paint store and have them mix up some spray paint to match the Jeep color or just a flat color if you prefer. Around this area E&M Auto Paint and Supply does a killer job color matching in a spray can. They can even make it so that the gloss is such a way it looks like it has a clear coat. It's a little more expensive but if your doing something custom sometimes it's worth it.
